Clay Hill Farm is, in fact, in a rustic location and a bit off the beaten path and more populated roads of Ogunquit. There's a big red barn welcoming you to the restaurant and there are gardens to walk through and a bird/wildlife sanctuary to walk through, as well. But, the restaurant is anything but rustic! In fact, it's a bit of an oxymoron to walk into the restaurant which is decorated with red velvet chairs and chandeliers and a piano bar . Having said that, it didn't matter. Who cares that the interior could use some sprucing up? . Service was exceptional. Menu was varied. Nothing particularly innovative about the food preparation, but quite enjoyable and typical "American fare". Prices were reasonable. And, the ambience overall was lovely. I've told many friends about the place and I'm sure they will enjoy it as much as we did.

Thank you so much, aliceann1, for sharing your recent experience at Clay Hill Farm with us! Your enjoyment of our food, service, and ambiance means the world to our team. You are right that 'rustic' doesn't quite describe us- although perhaps, 'rustique' would-:) Anyway, we are proud of- and very grateful for, our team and are pleased you enjoyed your overall experience. We look forward to being at your service again soon- and thank you again for sharing.

Clay Hill Farm has begun "Throwback Thursdays," where the owners trot out some of the favorites from their former companion restaurant, the Grey Gull. This week, I enjoyed "Crabbie Haddock," a perfectly cooked piece of fish topped with a crab soufflé. The signature dessert from the Grey Gull, peach melba, was the perfect ending to a delicious meal. As always, the meal was visually attractive, featuring fresh herbs and flowers from the lush gardens which surround the picturesque property. Been there many times. Always a special night out.

We stop in at this restaurant just about every time we are in the neighborhood. It is in the middle of the woods and maybe tough to find without GPS but worth it. Make a reservation, then arrive early for cocktails at the bar before dinner. They have a piano player just about every night and a combo once in a while in the lounge. Great atmosphere. Ask for a table in the garden room just off the lounge when you enter. The birds and squirrels trying to get at the bird feeders will keep you entertained throughout dinner!

The food is fairly basic American cuisine. Try the prime rib. Very generous portion as well as tender and juicy. The Lamb Shank and Seafood stuffed Haddock are also nice. Surprisingly for a Maine restaurant, there is no lobster on the regular menu except for an excellent lobster bisque appetizer.

Dear SoShoreGuy- Thank you so much for the kind words! We are thrilled you enjoyed your recent experience at Clay Hill Farm, and look forward to being at your service the next time you're in the area. (We especially like the mention of the live music and the live entertainment beyond the windowpanes-:)) You mentioned not seeing a lobster entree on the menu- but we do always have one. On this menu, it was the Firecracker Maine Lobster Stew w/ Maine lobster knuckle, claw & tail meat, shrimp, mussels, spicy broth ~ roasted
potato, corn, basil and lemon balm. It's our version of lobster in the rough- without the rough. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience and for the 5-stars- they mean the world to our team.
Best,
-The Clay Hill Team

Clay Hill Farm was a wonderful restaurant hidden away from the crowds and bustle of Ogunquit. The staff were wonderful from the valet to the wait staff. The atmosphere was quiet and a pleasant change from the rush of town. The food was excellent. we had the duck and the haddock and both were really, really good. This was a great, quiet find that was in the country but only 5 minutes from town,
