Recommended by our B&B host. We had one of the best meals we have ever eaten. We opted for the slightly more expensive menu. All 4 courses were outstanding and the service was exceptional. We were even invited to meet the chef before we left.

Absolutely spot on. Service was fantastic, wine good value, and our meal to die for. Not stuffy or pretentious; run by a husband and wife team who know what they are doing.

Recommend to go there by B&B host. Not a busy night so it was nice and peaceful. Chose the lower of the two set meals and it was fabulous. Great French food and great atmosphere. Our host was marvellous too.

On the way back from Normandy, we had a fantastic dinner here last week; my wife and I are excellent cooks and we eat out often - but we are very demanding and there always seems to be something that isn't just right, even when you pay a premium price for dinner. At Le Cheval Blanc we had proof that some restaurant owners and chefs really LOVE what they do. The service was perfect and friendly; the cuisine was first rate - I had the "Timbale de merlan et hareng doux fumé, vinaigrette de fruits rouges" that was delicious and fresh, followed by "Papillote de saumon au coulis de crustacés", equally delicious. For dessert we had "Gratin de framboises au jus de litchi et crème anglaise au spéculoos". But in addition to the excellent food, the service was so friendly and efficient. We even had our jug of water without even asking for it - that is rare in this kind of restaurant. After dinner, we went into the kitchen and met the staff and chef. Even though this restaurant is an hour's drive from our home in the western suburbs of Paris, I would make the detour to have an incredible experience again. Thank you so much to

Our B & B host made reservations for us at Le Cheval Blanc, French for The White Horse. The signage & decor tastefully reflected their theme. The two wait staff women worked very hard to serve their customers pleasantly & quickly. The owner, the older woman, spoke English well & came to our aid to explain her menu. She was very warm & pleasant. French restaurants give much better service than US counterparts--the silverware is changed for each course. It's done with a charming flair. We ordered from the menu that offered 3 courses, an entree, plat, & dessert. While waiting for the entree, we were served a delicious bonus of crispy sea food, very small prawns. The owner suggested a wine to go with our seafood plat, which was excellent. Each course was beautiful to view & wonderful in taste. We enjoyed the service & cuisine very much. We did not elect to choose the cheese course, but it was fascinating to watch them serve it to other clientele--a large clear case was rolled out displaying the dozens of cheeses. As each was chosen the server plated wedges. This course was served uniquely & with a classy flair. As we were paying our check, the chef, the other half of the ownership, came out to greet us. His English was limited & we, in our extremely limited French, thanked & praised him for the wonderful meal. It was a lovely evening with expert service & delicious food that was beautiful in appearance. We found that restaurants serve extra bonues when your host B & B has referred you.
