My husband and I were excited to book the Surprise for a 2-hour day sail. The boat was beautiful, clean, and well cared for. The captain, Will, and first mate, Laird, were fantastic and full of information about the schooner, Camden's history, boating, lobstering, etc. We enjoyed the sail out of the harbor and around the area, and saw guillemots, eider ducks, an eagle's nest, and a loon. We also passed the Camden Light/Curtis Island Light, which was cool. But then,...that was it. After about an hour and a half, we just sat there hearing stories about more rich people who owned homes in the area and sometimes with no commentary at all, as I think everything had been said. As much as I hate to say this, if guests cannot be taken to other areas around the shore or further out, etc., the Surprise should offer a 1.5 hour sail and charge less.
