Spent two weeks traveling the Atlantic coast from Providence, RI to Bar Harbor, ME. Had many great places to stay - until Spruce Point's very crude cottage! Should be in some remote ski area. Grounds were very nice - cottage was not! Small college w/dorm refrigerator ONLY. No microwave, no stove, no table/counter top/flat surface to be found. The 5' x 5' bath room had NO counter top/flat surface to place toiletries. Told management we were not happy, but they held to "if you cancel you pay anyway" policy. Spent $1200 for 4 days in a very sub-par facility. A simple Hampton Inn in Portland looked like the Waldorf the following days!
The best stay of our long awaited New England vacation was Wentworth-by-the-Sea near Newcastle, NH. Wow! For less than above $$ we had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, full kitchen w/ dishes, pots & pans, microwave, range, full size refrigerator, sink, full counter top and a family room with a sliding glass door that opened onto the Atlantic.
We booked Spruce Point sight unseen on the recommendation of a friend. We will do more research on future recommendations.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for visiting the coast of Maine this Fall. To clear up some facts...your reservation was made with a third party for an oceanfront cottage room and not a full size family cottage as you expected. I'm so sorry that this happened and that we then missed the mark for you by not having another room as the hotel was full and we could not move you.

The room in which you stayed is Sunset B. It's occupied nearly 100% of the time each season and has a wonderful ocean view with very happy guests who return year after year.

For future guests thinking of Sunset B for your next visit, you may visit our website and click Accommodations/Cottage Rooms. The header image on that webpage page is of the porch on Sunset B. Click view gallery in the oceanfront cottage room category and image 1, 2, 3 are of Sunset B.

From our website "Cottage Rooms combine traditional coastal cottage painted pine wainscoting and décor and private porches with traditional Adirondack chairs. Historic Cottage rooms are either Woodlandview or Oceanfront."

Also, for future guests, a two-night deposit is taken for stays ranging from two nights to thirteen nights. If a cancellation occurs within 14 days prior to arrival, the deposit is non-refundable. The entire stay would never be charged on cancellation.

I'm pleased you thought the location and resort campus was wonderful. Again, I'm sorry to have missed the mark for you. We have a number of room types. I am confident you would have enjoyed a stay in the Balsam, Seabreeze, or Puffin Lodge. They are 700 square feet with an oversized bathroom with walkin shower and hot tub.

Should you reconsider returning someday, and I hope that you will, please feel free to contact me directly at any time. I look forward to helping plan your trip and selecting the perfect accommodation for your visit and relaxation time.

Sincerely,

Angelo DiGiulian, Co-Owner and Innkeeper

While my husband and I were researching wedding venues on the seacoast, we came across Spruce Point Inn in Boothbay Harbor, and instantly knew that was where we wanted to get married. We could not have made a better decision!

We traveled to SPI a few days early to get to enjoy the scenery and the Inn's grounds. The staff was amazing - always willing to help and go above and beyond to ensure that our stay was absolutely perfect. They were friendly, accommodating, and helpful when we had a request, regardless of how outlandish it may have been.

Our room was ready when we arrived, and we were so happy to have chosen our ocean view cottage. We had a balcony with a couple of adirondack chairs overlooking the harbor, and the perfect spot to take in the breathtaking SPI sunsets! The room was clean, had a working fireplace, and large bedroom with a king bed. It was the pefect size cottage for us.

The ammenities and the grounds provided us with endless activities. We got to play a few games of shuffleboard, eat smores around the campfire, and my niece and nephew loved the gameroom. Although it was a little chilly to enjoy the ocean view salt water pool, we got to enjoy the hottub and heated pool.

Overall, our expierience could not have been any more positive. I would recommend Spruce Point Inn to any families, couples, or groups looking for an amazing Maine getaway!

We stayed in an Oceanfront cottage, but it was a bit back on the side of the first building (didn’t get much light) back behind the salt water pool. You could just see the harbor in the distance. Loved this cute & quaint cottage which was painted in light blue & cream with hard wood floors and classic seacoast furnishings. The living room is a good size with couch, small desk area, and chair/coffee table. There is a small kitchenette including everything you would need. The bedroom is rather basic, but comfy (there is no closet, but there is a hanging rack and a large chest of drawers). The bathroom was very small, though. It is also a “short” room; my husband is 6’5” and just missed hitting his head on the bedroom ceiling.

The resort has a lot of amenities – 2 pools, gym, beautiful hiking trails on site, complimentary bikes and kayaks. There is also a bar/pub and a more formal restaurant. We only dined onsite for breakfast one morning, it was a good buffet for $18 which is a standard price point for this type of resort/breakfast. The dining service was very good.

Came to the inn on vacation last week. A gorgeous location, excellent restaurant, beautiful facilities. AND Nicole the masseuse is a wizard with magic hands. It may seem counterintuitive to spend time inside while visiting this beautiful waterside inn, but it's worth it if the time is spent with Nicole.
