This was my family's second year in row spending a week at Seanook. The passion of the owners Ron and Mary Ellen is evident with really no detail overlooked. Basically, when you arrive, you can feel any stress you have leave because they've thought of pretty much everything except your food and cocktails which for me, is half the fun anyway.
The place is rare in its proximity to the water and there are boat loads of good restaurant/bars close by and all the attractions of Boothbay. Yet you aren't so close that you won't have ample peace and quiet.
This year was amazing for wildlife. We had a daily visit from a Harbor Seal as well as the usual plethora of birds led by the resident Osprey. On two boat trips we saw numerous Seals, Porpoises and a even a few Puffins. We even caught a few fish which were delicious.
If you are going to Maine to relax, this is the best spot we know - just don't take our week because we'll be back next year.
Besides Seanook's beautiful location and wonderfully relaxing accommodations,
our hosts - Mary Ellen and Ron - could not be more helpful. It really is a joy to spend time there -- and we look forward to our next visit!
Ron and MaryEllen are great hosts! They are very accommodating and are there if you need help with anything. Seanook is a beautiful and well equipped location. The views are amazing. Even on a rainy day it is a perfect place to be. This is our 8th year and our 3 kids look forward to it every year.
Thanks for the memories and more to come!
The Boothbay area is so appealing, with intriguing harbor views, quaint houses, shops and eateries. This property, uniquely situated right on the water, affords wonderful views from every room. Because the weather was so inhospitable, we spent less time exploring the area than we normally would, so having a warm, comfortable cottage to hole up in was appreciated. We did venture out to photograph a couple of lighthouses, and had some top-notch dining experiences -- Boathouse Bistro, Thistle Inn, Brass Compass (in Rockland).
When we travel, my husband and I usually are most interested in: a comfortable bed, privacy, great views, as well as proximity to birding, hiking, and other nature-oriented activities. Seanook delivers in each category. Birding from every room was a wonderful bonus. When we return for a warmer, sunnier experience, I'm sure we'll experience a spectacular sunset or two.
This cottage is welcoming and comfortable, and is literally on the water. The tides go in and out on 3 sides of the house making it feel like you are a part of the ocean. Waterfowl abound, and the views are spectacular. Relaxing, peaceful and surrounded by natural beauty. The owners are very thoughtful and helpful with any questions you might have. Lots to do in the area no matter what season.
