This was the best food i ate in the 3 days i spent in Louisiana but first this place had the most friendly people i have ever meet. It was really like eating at your mommas house. Seems like this is the place to hang out and get your eat on. I had the fried chicken, black eye peas and yams. Wife had the smothered pork chop, rice, green beans and yams. Best food that we had for awhile cant compare it to any other restaurant cause its home cooking! It is cafeteria style so you do have to look at the menu so you know whats being served day to day. Only complaint i had was there wasn't any greens on the menu that day. This is a must if you been on the road for awhile and miss mommas cooking. Oh don't forget your hot water corn bread.

Friendly place great food and great people. The fried chicken was to die for. The corn bread was moist and tasty and the strawberry cake was heaven.

My wife and I stopped for lunch on our way through town. The catfish was legit, which we both had. The ribs looked amazing as well. Everyone was super friendly, we would eat here again for sure!

Like coming home for a visit.....the warm welcome and delicious southern favorites is well worth the trip. Just a short dip below I-20 in West Monroe is "Big Momma's" and the best fried chicken you likely have EVER laid a lip over. Your choices are heaped on a plate along with their famous "hot water bread", which my tastebuds say rivals the status of the famous Cafe Du Monde beignet in Louisiana. I could have made a meal of just them....
Home cooked butter beans, smothered cabbage, traditional rice and gravy with a big slice of from scratch lemon cake.....fresh brewed ice tea. What more do you need? ...besides the warmth and grace of Big Momma and the others at this terrific lunch spot. Note: They are only open for lunch. Don't worry you likely will not be hungry till breakfast, but they do to-do orders. If what you are looking for is mouth watering southern food for the soul, don't miss this little gem.
.....and Momma! I'm coming home SOON!
Your newly adopted son from Tyler, Kevin.
