The lodge is really nice and we stayed in the master suite which is huge with a deck right off the back and a view of the vineyard. He hung out at the winery (not far from the lodge) for a few hours and then sat on the deck for 2 hours of so enjoying the view and relaxing with a bottle of wine. Breakfast is included with your stay and is downstairs in the lodge. We stayed with a discounted rate so the price was excellent for the room since it normally goes for $300 a night.

We stayed overnight at the lodge. It is a big house with many bedrooms. Our room has a balcony to the beautiful view. The room is also beautiful and clean. The amenity is complete. The breakfast is just OK but the service from the staffs is very good. If we travel around there again, the lodge will be one of our first choice.

Only issue to be improved is the lodge sign.
We arrived in the night. The area is very dark. We didn't see any hotel sign at all. After sometimes, we find the vineyard's office but not the lodge. The vineyard was already close and we did not see any lodge around. We did not find either leaflet nor paper of map/direction at the office's door that should be helpful.
We started to be really worried. We spent quite sometimes until saw the Elk statue further away in the middle of darkness. With this statue, we finally found the location of the lodge.
We only saw the lodge panel in the morning when we drove out. It is small and pale. Recoloring and installing the light should be helpful for the guests who arrive after sunset.

This location offers lodging in 3 different locations on the same property. We stayed in the lodge because we were with another couple and wanted use of the common areas. The lodge itself is very nice and beautiful. The view over the adjacent vineyards (now owned by another family) was serene and the star gazing was great. The common areas were very comfortable and clean but the entire lodge was decorated with taxidermy and it became a little disconcerting to be enjoying the view of the live wildlife outside while dead wildlife was staring down at us. The rooms are nice but there are a few odd things like only 1 nightstand with lamp by the bed (at least in the 2 rooms we saw) so only 1 person can read in bed. The lodge is also made of wood so you can hear when anyone else is moving around. The service over all was good but we did have a few problems at breakfast and with our room and the initial response to both problems was not very helpful or friendly. On the other hand, you are provided with real wine glasses and a corkscrew so you can enjoy a drink in your room or the common areas.

Room Tip: If you are traveling with others, the lodge is probably the best place to choose

I think it's more than fair to share my opinion about my stay at The Lodge. After reading some disgraceful reviews about the Elk Creek Lodge (specially the one about the Master Suite), and being surrounded by mixed feelings I MUST say it's a great place to stay as a couple or family. From the first moment the place is BEAUTIFUL and my wife and I were satisfactorily greeted by Jessica who showed us around the Lodge and our master suite (the whole place smelled amazing as she brought from her own house her candle). We had a breakfast basket at the fridge ready for us for next morning. The room was lovely done and very clean. After the Tour and Wine Tasting - which by the way is provided with the most knowledgeable information, we could relax at the whirlpool and enjoy each other by the fireplace at the room which is African themed, making our stay even more special.
About the noise in the rooms: The Lodge is a beautiful wooden preserved house. Yes you can hear people playing billiard downstairs and if the room next to yours is loud you can also hear them talking... BUT everything comes with a little of common sense from all individuals. We had a wonderful night sleep (sunday night). If I could suggest something - limited late hours at the Safari room would help.
The coldness and snow outside had a kick on it... wonderful scenario!
Thank you Vicki, Jessica and all from the Elk Creek Lodge and Winery. We truly appreciated every second spent there, and will surely be back in a near future. :)
