Went there for the history and left after a good meal . Kind of dated , but what the heck --it is old . An interesting experience .

The title of the place is deceiving. It is located just across the street from Churchill Downs. And, it is a staple of both locals and loyal Derby attendees. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. But, do not expect a fine linen table experience.

We were at a horse show and were told we had to try this place for breakfast. We were told they served breakfast all day . Well they stopped serving it at 11 and we were there a little later. The lunch menu was nothing to shout about. The waitresses were not overly friendly. The food came out at different times . Even the same kind of food. More than one person got a hamburger and they came out nowhere close to the same time. Some people were close to being finished before others got their food.
I got the lunch special of an open faced roast beef sandwich. I will say it was pretty good. But much of the food was average at best.
The place did have an historic feel to it . Lots of horse and Derby memorabilia.

The food was decent. Honestly went more for the experience/history of the place. While I heard they have massive omelets, we personally didn't order one.

Spent 3 days in Louisville and this was one of the best meals we had! Went for breakfast before the Kentucky Derby museum. Food was excellent, service was beyond excellent. And very reasonably priced! Do yourself a favor and stop by!!
