They started off good, but the went out business! Really went down hill. quick. New restaurant now there is called Proud Mary's BBQ. This one corrected all the old problems and is great.

We travel extensively for work and our son's baseball throughout the country. We always try to look for restaurants that are local and off the beaten path but must have great ambience and food. WE FOUND JUST THE ONE IN LEXINGTON, KY. It is about 15 minutes from downtown and on the Kentucky River. Pier 99 has 2 decks outside, an upper and a lower deck. The lower deck is closer to the river and the scenery is amazing from both. It's nestled between an old steel one lane truss bridge built in 1871 and is still usable today and a large trestle bridge that seems like it is floating in the sky. Location: PERFECT. Now, let's talk about the food which is amazing. Initially we stopped their prior to our son's game to see how it looked and get a menu. The staff was superior. Their demeanor and customer skills surpassed most of the 5 star restaurants we have eaten at. Tim was an amazing waiter and his personality made you want to stay or at least come back to eat. We had to leave however after our son's baseball game at Eastern KY University we stopped back for dinner. Again, Tim and his personality were impeccable. Food, not quite sure what to eat since this was American/Seafood cuisine cooked Kentucky style. Catfish, Crawfish, Shrimp, and other types. Each of us ordered a different item so we could share Tim helped us decide. The food to say the least was out of this world. They had something they made called the "Hot Brown" which was to die for. To explain how good this was, we ended up back there the next night for dinner just so our son could get the "Hot Brown" one more time before we left to go back to WI, and again the food and service was top notch. Johnny their chef should be commended. His food is amazing and if anyone visiting Lexington, Richmond, Georgetown, or the surrounding areas in Kentucky is looking for a great atmosphere, superb customer service, and food that is top notch with an incredible view....you must try PIER 99. We loved it and will be back to eat their hopefully soon, but will definitely be back. Drive to this restaurant is incredible with amazing views.
