Maintenance Issues. The Lodge Is Getting Very Old And Needs More Upkeep. I have come to this lodge for the past 10 years and I have always adored staying here but my visit last night did not make me feel the same way as it has in the past. It just felt like they were running out of money to pay attention to details that made your stay special and memorable like putting bird seed in the feeders, planting more flowers at the front entrance flowerbeds, put conditioner in the room not just shampoo and lotion. One was half empty. The room needed attention such peeling paint on the window sill. The chair had a very large stain on it and it was the only chair to sit in. The mattress was old and hurt my back in the morning. The tub had no stopper nor did the sink have a stopper. The shower had large gaps in the tile that needed to be caulked and sealed as well as bleaching the shower walls. The shower curtain was filled with mold at the bottom. There was only 1 screen in the windows and there were 8 windows total so the mosquitos came in. The nights were 70's but I couldn't open the windows because of the lack of screens. The restaurant has large areas that looked like roof leaks they covered with some kind of boards. Overall I just felt like money wasn't being spent to clean and upkeep. This trip was so disappointing that I will probably not visit again after all I have spent 10 years going here I guess the run is over it was fun while it lasted.

Room tip: 319 great corner location

stayed here as we're going to spend a few days hiking at the falls. front desk was helpful. aaa price was given. room had 2 queen beds. bathroom did not have counter to put toiletries on. beds were very soft rate beds at 2/5. tv good no refrigerator for our traveling cooler food. had to program our own a/c unit. tried twice no air. tried to call front desk but phone not working. walked down 3 flights to ask about the a/c. first person said it should be working. 3nd person said oh i have to turn on your unit do it will work. worked fine after that. probably would stay in london KY or somerset KY if we visit again.

We stayed in a cabin rather than a lodge room. It was a very large room accessed by quite a few steps.
The room was strangely laid out but survivable. The bathroom (including toilet) was tiny and cramped - definitely a one person at a time room. Considering the size of the cabin, the bathroom was shortchanged. Very big minus.
A few more pieces of furniture - in particular a sofa/lounge chair and a desk would be really good and make for a more relaxing stay and better use of space.
The cabin also came with a kitchenette which is why the tiny table provided would have been better used near the kitchen for eating and a desk supplied for computer use. This would all have been possible because of the size of the room.
The setting was nice, staff were courteous but a bit more upto-date knowledge of the moonbow event would have been appropriate. They were keen to sell us a trail guide which ended up not being needed.
We had dinner at the restaurant and staff were friendly and accommodating and the food was plentiful and tasty.

I was pleasingly surprised to discover that my room was actually housed in a duplex cabin, one of a grouping adjacent to the hotel (which also has rooms.) The room was quite large, included a wet bar with microwave, refrigerator, and multi-cup coffee pot. There were large windows across two sides of the room - a plus for many but know the mini-blinds will not permit you to black out the windows for sleeping.

The park is doing remodeling in this area so you may have a view of that construction.

This is not a budget hotel; you should expect to pay more for an in-park room and that together with the amenities made me feel like the price was reasonable.

Room tip: Clarify whether you are reserving an in-room or cabin room - each has its own advantages and you'll want to match your own preferences.

We went to visit the lodge the first week in May, 2017. The environment was very rustic. I loved the falls and since it had been raining a lot there was a great deal of water in the river.
I requested a room, following the link to stay in the Lodge. I found out when we got there that the Woodland rooms are actually cottages and are not part of the lodge, although when making reservations there are two links, cottages and lodge, and I chose Lodge.
Since it was raining the whole time we were there, we had to go out in the rain to go eat, get coffee, or anything else. The cottage was down over 20 steps to get in or out of the room. The steps were slippery when wet.
The lodge is on a cliff overlooking the river and the dining room has great big windows to view the scenery. There were many leaks in the roof in the lobby area and it made the ambience that of a poorly maintained property.
One more thing: the pillows are hard as a rock and very uncomfortable. If you go, please bring your own pillow, if you need a soft one.

Room tip: Don't go for the Woodland room if you want to stay in the lodge
