It was my first visit after doing some tourist activity in Berea. The sign is easy to see and is across the street from Wafer Keg, or something like that. We sat down and per usual chips and salsa were served. We were given time to review the menu but they were attentive to when it was time to order. I opted for the Fiesta Burrito. The chicken, onions and mushrooms were a great combination. Cheese sauce was also atop the concoction. Rice and beans were yummy, better than average.

Recently ate lunch with my husband here. Great atmosphere and great service. I had the chimichanga which was great.

I highly recommend the fajitas and my kids love the Vaca Loca. We eat here regularly and have always had consistent quality food and service.

We went there for a late lunch. We had tacos and tamales, and both were quite good. The service was good too.

We have two Mexican restaurants in our hometown of Berea, Kentucky. We used to have three. The one that was in a former Denny‘s building (the locals call it Señor Denny’s) closed down. The other one is in a former Hardees building. We call it Mexican Hardees. But this one, Mariachis, is in a new building built for the purpose of housing the Mexican restaurant. As such, it is the nicest of our Mexican restaurants.

The differences between Mariachis and El Rio Grande (Mexican Hardees) are really not very large. Mariachis has a newer building, a broader menu, and probably a nicer ambience. Mexican Hardee’s is more hometown, more intimate, with a smaller menu. Both have very friendly wait staff and are nice places to eat.

Mariachis also has the advantage of being located close to the interstate, for those who of you who are traveling.

Both are worthy of your patronage. But for someone from out of town, mariachis is probably the better bet.
