When I thought all was lost with regards to the Aussie outback pub, all being taken over by rich city folk as a hobbie and not much more than an interest in drinking and tekking their yuppy friends " we own a pub" along comes the Mount Mary Hotel.
Set inbetween Morgan and Eudunda with its cluster of homes scattered around it an old railway stop is like a beacon on a dark winters night.
The place hits you when you enter like you have jumped out of Marty Mcfly,s Delorean into the good old days. Stop and take a look around at whats hanging on the walls thats our history right there.
Do not however expect a good old dollop of pub grub. You will however get a top class resaurant meal and very very cold beer.
Frienship comes not only from behind the bar but the locals, once you break through the apparently tough skins are very friendly and will keep your conversation very interesting as long as you choose to linger at this great watering hole.
Give it a try and y,all will go back for more. :-)

We have been several times and will continue going back. Wee had my birthday lunch with 20 friends. They Carreras a BBQ lunch with plenty of salads and meat plus there were three of us with food issues and there was no trouble on catering for our needs. It has a great atmosphere of days gone by in the aussie country. The new owners have been there just over 12 months and are very friendly

The beer is cold, the publican chatty and friendly. Accommodation is cheap. It's a couple of hours from Adelaide - it looks like there is nothing there but like a lot of places scratch under the surface and there is a lot going on -

We arrived 5 minutes late for our booking and were told he had turned down 2 bookings that day, surely thats why you book a table so that a table is available? We felt we were treated badly in front of other patrons by the proprietor and considering the hotel had received a favourable review on a television show called Postcards we were very disapointed with the treatment we received. We had driven 160 kilometres from Adelaide that day (This establishment is a country pub) to have lunch with friends and I felt we were bady treated. We will not go back there.
