I stayed at the Econo Lodge in Le Mars for 2 nights in September 2014. The room was a fairly small standard American motel room. The furnishings and TV were quite dated. The bathroom was small. There was no separate reading light (away from the desk) or overstuffed chair. There was a fridge and a microwave and a small "coffee pod" in room coffeemaker. The room was reasonably clean. There was unfixed superficial damage on a small portion of the exterior wall Ugly, but inconsequential. The room was neither awful or good. The rate was good and it was available.

A breakfast was provided. It included a waffle machine, biscuits and sausage gravy, three choices of cold cereal, microwaveable oatmeal, commercially prepared and wrapped pastries and orange and apple juice. It did not seem to include fresh pastries or fresh fruit. It also didn't include coffee (which I don't drink, but do expect to be there) for either of the two mornings I was there. The coffee machine was broken. No apparent effort was made to provide a substitute coffee maker or provide commercially purchased coffee from nearby outlets. Repeated complaints to the front desk did not produce any substitute for the broken coffee machine.

Every hotel in town was booked, this was it. It was dark, dirty and smelled of cigarette smoke. Even though we signed a slip stating we would not smoke, they would not have been able to tell if we did. First thing we did was checked the bed for clean sheets and lifted mattresses for bugs. Bedding and bed were clean. They offered a breakfast but the dining area was dirty and nothing appeared fresh. We left - even without coffee - and opted for the gas station coffee. Had we not been exhausted we would have driven on but after a long day we could not risk it.

Stayed here due to my work during the last week of July for 1 night. The front desk staff woman was nice. The room was nice. Bed was nice. The shower head needed to be changed out as it was spraying out where it was connected, leaving less than ideal water pressure.

The pool/hot tub area was closed due to construction of a lounge area. Disappointed to find out about that.

The continental breakfast was good. Alot of variety and liked the later time for breakfast on the weekend.

The location is good as there is a 24 hour Wal-Mart nearby.

My wife and I stayed here for a weekend. Check in was fine, friendly staff. The building is old and in need of updating. The pool was out of service as the pipes broke a few days earlier. The free breakfast included a waffle maker... this kitchen appliance was probably the highlight of the facility. I guess the price is right as we paid just $49 per night.

I stay in Choice properties on a regular basis and this is by far the worst I have encountered. The parking lot was dirty, the corridors smelly and the rooms were clean but not great! Towels were thin. I have stayed at Econo in other places and enjoyed the property--not this one!

Internet was so-so.

Back "security" door to property was broken and no key was needed to enter.

I will not stay again!
