The house is perfectly situated and wonderfully appointed. The property includes many outdoor small seating areas for those who want some privacy from their travel group for a while. The house includes a stand-alone large capacity ice machine - a plus for large groups. While the house's pool, beach, and Jacuzzi are reasons to not leave the house, the nearby resort (under 2 km) has great food (two restaurants and a pizza/bakery) and a lovely beach. When one issue in the house popped up (shower backed up), the property manager had someone out there right away to fix it. We are looking forward to our next stay at this same property.
This house is amazing. I was there for the weekend and didn’t get the opportunity to explore the entire home it was that large. 18 people traveling and we were not on top of each other! Good size rooms, most with private bathroom. Would have given 5 stars, however the bed in my room, way soft for my liking!
Also no directions for using the microwave! When our chefs were not there, we couldn’t get popcorn, to watch movies in the cinema!
Also, transportation is definitely a must!
If you’re a beach bum like me, you may be slightly disappointed, the access to the ocean was a no no for me! But the pool and jacuzzi more than made up for that!
Definitely recommend for groups or large family.
I’m finishing up a stay at this home. Leaving my group tomorrow. Previously I had sent the operator of this home some question about this home and location but never got an answer. Other than basic cleaning, whoever manages this home hasn’t done anything to it. In a long time. I doubt the owners have a clue what’s going on and haven’t been there themselves in a while.
Here are some observations. Nearest grocery store is about 30-40 min away. Getting into town is a little less than an hour. Very secluded idyllic location though. Private beach is nice but with rocks hard to get into ocean. Hotel/Resort not far away that has accessible beach however. Overall the home and its location is beautiful but has some serious shortcomings.
The kitchen is pretty but is non functional. Appliances are old and neat every single one has limitations or doesn’t work anymore. Neither microwave operates, the gas burner wont light and the infrared stove gets lukewarm at best. One of the two refrigerators is leaking and doesn’t adequately cool. Did they forget in the initial kitchen design a refrigerator? Looks like these two were picked up at a garage sale, used. The washing machine leaks and the dryer doesn’t work at all.
The mattresses on beds are old and too soft. There are two rooms with waterbeds. The kind you get sea sick on. The sheets are partly torn. The pillows are nasty. There are NO blankets. The towels are clearly left overs from previous guests.
There is no closet to hang up any clothes. It is as if this may have been planned at the beginning but was never implemented. There are no side tables for the beds or anything to place anything on. My room luckily had one chair.
The router for the internet has a reach of ten meters at most. A decent router is cheap. Buy one! Yes we’re supposed to be on vacation. Sadly I had to do some work.
The windows and the upper deck glass railing are so dirty that you can barely see through it.
I own a vacation rental myself. I know after some time things can become a little neglected. This is not some cheap one bedroom rental however. Things like dishwasher detergent, laundry soap are customarily supplied to guests. There was nothing here.
I’m assuming the owners of this home have not been there themselves in years.
You really need to do better.
But yes. It’s beautiful. Just lacks major attention to detail. If they spent one week’s revenue on some updates, it would go a long way.
Wow, we just loved it.
The villa was exactly as we expected it. It was truly beautiful. I had the room on the second floor, to the right (if looking out to sea). The room was great, the bathroom was enormous, and the air con worked great.
The facilities at the villa itself was truly outstanding - we felt like we were in a movie! The pool is amazing, the beach is nice, there are lots of places to eat dinner, inside, outside, on the patio and even down at the beach. It was just stunning.
There was more than enough dishes/pots/pans and cutlery etc to host us all and we loved eating together as a group each night. Just beautiful.
The Wi-Fi was pretty bad, as was almost all of our Canadian mobile network signals. We felt a little 'cut off' from society and the rest of the world (probably a good thing) Maybe we shouldn't have been too bothered being in such a lovely villa, but it is nice to have bragging rights when staying in such a fabulous place. Also, the ice machine broke down towards the end of our trip.
We fed the wildlife (not sure if you're supposed too) but the cat/kittens had a good feed whilst we were there, as did the iguanas.
I am typing this review feeling very blue indeed. Our week just was not long enough, not even close. We wish we had booked 2 weeks instead. Even 10 days wouldn't have been enough to be honest.
You will need a car - without a doubt. There isn't anywhere to buy anything from that doesn't require a car. We had 3 between our group which was just right.
Karaktar Restaurant nearby was amazing food and location. A little pricey, but worth it.
Take lots of Insect Repellent. We saw a few Mosquitoes, but they were not the issue. The issue here is the Sand fleas & flies. We all (11 of us) got bitten terribly. On return to Canada, 4 of us became seriously sick, which our doctors put down to the bites which covered our bodies. We all had fever and sickness.
I would definitely return to this Villa in a heartbeat. I absolutely LOVED IT! The host, Brigitte was so friendly on arrival and was always quick to answer our questions pre-travel.
You will need EUROPEAN plug adapters, but there are North American ( and i think i saw British) adapters readily available in most rooms. Most rooms come with a hairdryer too - save you packing one.
If you are viewing this villa, just hit BOOK NOW, you wont be disappointed. I wish i could go back right now. If i was to return to Curacao, i would want to stay here again.
What a wonderful way to spend a week in Curacao. We had a small group of 5 adults and one 15 month old so we had lots and lots of room. Everything was well done from the all the furniture and pool deck chairs and high end appliances to the little beach with the day-bed. All the bedrooms air conditioned and thank goodness they were as the first two days we were there it was unusually calm with no breeze at all.
We spent a lot of time in around the pool to stay cool. You have to try the snorkeling just off the little beach as it is as good as anywhere on the island. If you happen to get rained- in the cinema room is a great place to spend a few hours and no need to bring any movies as they have almost anything you want to watch!
The neighborhood is in a very quiet and secure place with a gated and security monitored entrance. You are not but a block away from a very nice beach with services (Karakter Beach).
I highly recommend this Villa for small to very large groups as there is room for everybody and something for everybody to do and no more than 45 minutes’ drive to anywhere on the Island and yes you will need a rental car and Brigitte will be happy to arrange one for you.
