Immaculate and beautifully located, A Dune Escape was the highlight of our family trip to Australia. I can't recommend it highly enough.

“The location is the first surprise”
Reviewed 17 March 2018 for a stay in March 2018

When we arrived at the Dune Escape we thought what an amazing location with great rural views. As we were self catering we moved our provisions in and then walked out onto the back veranda and walked up the paved path to what I can only say is WOW. The view down to the 8km long white sand beach with the most aqua blue water you will ever see was one of those Moments. There is a little deck up there to sit , relax and take in the view with a glass or bottle of your favourite tipple and cheese platter. You can access this amazing beach path a path down to the beach.
The property itself is absolutely first class and a credit to Brian and Kris, the owners.

“Excellent Stay; Perfect family home for KI vacation”
Reviewed 23 February 2018 for a stay in February 2018

Stayed at the Dune Escape for 2 nights during our very first visit to Kangaroo Island.

Brian and Kris were very responsive with their communications and any of our questions prior to the trip. They gave us clear directions so we found the place very easily while driving in from Penneshaw. They also greeted us on the first day of arrival and gave us a quick intro of the house.

The place was cleaned and maintained to a very high standard. Very tasteful decors, bright and airy rooms, and good quality amenities. Felt like we're staying in a first class hotel by the beach, but then you look outside, and realize we're in the middle of the outback with wallabies and kangaroos hoping in the backyard. Truly amazing experience.

We walked up to the top of the dune for sunrise and sunset and the view was absolutely fantastic. The steps down to the beach took a bit of work (have to watch your steps) but we practically had the beach to ourselves.

Above all, we truly appreciate the "eco" aspect of this house. We took this opportunity to educate our kids what living "off the grid" looks like.

I'd come back and stay here again, and would recommend this rental to anyone anytime.

One friendly reminder, many of the roads on KI, including the side road leading up to this rental, are unpaved. We are lucky to have a compact SUV so it wasn't a problem for us....but a 4WD or a small SUV might help with getting around.

“Amazing house in perfect location. Amazing wildlife and views!”
Reviewed 21 January 2018 for a stay in December 2017

What a wonderful place to stay - the house is new, spacious, well-equipped and a perfect place to relax. Surrounded by a veranda on 2 sides - you can sit and enjoy the view - watching the kangaroos at dawn and dusk is a must! It's nestled in the bush, but a few steps take you up a small hill to the top of the dunes, with chairs to relax in and enjoy the view of Emu Bay below. If you want to venture to the beach it's 99 steps down.

The house has all you need in it - comfy settees - armchairs - dining table - breakfast bar - well equipped kitchen - new BBQ - and very comfy beds with great black outs. Every detail has been thought about.

The hosts were so helpful too - living nearby - very happy to help if you want advice on what to do.

We spent 3 wonderful nights here - and it was a great base to explore from - being able to head over to Flinders Chase NP (About 1hr 30 minutes) - Seal Bay - and Stokes Bay (access beach through hole in the rocks) closer by.

Don't hesitate to book - just wish we could have stayed longer!

“A Fantatastic Location for Kangaroo Island Holiday”
Reviewed 12 September 2017 for a stay in September 2017

We couldn't believe what a wonderful, clean and cleverly designed house awaited us on our arrival. This is a truly magic place just far enough away from the rest of the "crowd" at Emu Bay. The wildlife share the garden too and it was great to sit on the deck watching them quietly do what wallabies and kangaroos do. We had an echidna and possum visit us too. Brian and Kris have obviously taken great care planning and equipping this house and were more than happy to be on hand to help if we asked for it. The information and directions that were sent to us before our arrival were very much appreciated.
The view from the top of dune is stunning, overlooking Emu Bay and the beach. What a great place to sit back, relax and enjoy the privacy of this fantastic location.
