For the uninitiated it is difficult to understand the difference between Mennonites and Amish. A visit to Menno-Hof in Shipshewana is a mustif that is to become clear. In addition you will learn that there is another less known group which come from the same Anabaptist roots. These are the Huterites, a group who live a communal lifestyle in contrast to the Mennonites and the Amish. Be prepared to spend approximately an hour and a half to fully enjoy the guided tour that has been very well set up. The tour is definitely prepared from a strong Christian perspective and thos who visit should be prepared for that. It is a very good place to commence your visit to Shipshewana. Many things will be clearer after a visit here. It is open from 10.00 am till 5.00 pm.

Teen granddaughter enjoyed learning about other ways of life and there were so many educational displays.

We really enjoyed the tour. Learned a lot about anabaptists and their history. Was interesting to put that into context with our Christian background. Also learned the differences among the Mennonites and Amish.

I've been here 3 times. Always a learning experience. This place will teach you the history of the Amish and teach you a lot about them. It's also a beautiful place to go and everyone is so nice. My favorite was the simulation of a tornado! A small room that serves a great purpose to teach each person that enters. I loved the chapel too. Enjoy and be sure to go! A must see!

Very interesting. They have films and also displays set up. It is intersting to know the hardships they faced.
