We spent the day hiking Versailles State Park and decided to stop here on our way home. SO glad we did! Great car tour gives you facts about the preserve as well as sights of most of it. Many places to get out and walk, great old homestead with barn, ponds, lakes, and wildlife.

We typically bring mountain bikes and ride the roads, ogling wildlife. There are hiking trails. There's an historic farmstead that's worth a walk-around. The welcome/nature center is a good place to get information and maybe buy a few little gift items. But this place is here for the benefit of the wildlife and if you're seeking a fully-developed outdoor recreational destination, this isn't it.

This was a great stop off the interstate to take a quick hike. The visitors center has a nice educational exhibit perfect for all ages with interactive exhibits and a bird viewing area with one-way windows. We saw several varieties of birds at the feeders. We followed this by two short hikes on different trails which were well marked and dry. It was a great place to stretch our legs and there were clean restrooms. And, it was all free.

My wife and I were traveling up 65 and felt the need for a quick hike to stretch our legs. We found this park right off of 65 in Seymour. It was free admission and the staff at the visitor center was very friendly and full of fun facts. There was a guided tour that was about to start but we chose to venture out on our own. I was very impressed with the overall size of the park. There were a decent amount of 1 mile trails that would take you by ponds, lakes, and various wetlands. The terrain was easy and the trails were very well marked. We ended up spending a few hours in the park that day and would definitely reccomend it for families that are just looking to spend a little time in nature without too much hassle. I would certainly go back if I find myself traveling that way again.
