Fried chicken is their calling card no doubt. Had the 1/4 chicken and the mash potatoes and macaroni as sides. Excellent place for a lunch with friends. Atmosphere was great, the bar was great, the service was great. Overall two thumbs up! Highly recommend when in downtown Indy! The neighborhood along Massachusetts Ave. had a great vibe!

We recently took a vacation just traveling around to different states trying different restaurants and checking out casinos. A food-cation so to speak. This was our last stop and by far the best restaurant we tried to date. We had Toby for a server who was over the top friendly, great at recommending the best items on the menu and just made our visit. We took his recommendation and ordered 1/2 chicken, grilled cheese and the spoon bread. Absolutely the best grilled cheese we have ever tasted. As odd as it sounded to have apricot preserves and apples on a grilled cheese...paired together perfectly. Chicken was juicy and the crust was delicious and crispy. Spoon bread was terrific. We found all the staff to be friendly and professional, the food amazing and the atmosphere a great place to be. The manager even came over to chat to see where we were from and even paid for our meal. (first time that has ever happened...in all our travels) Overall...it is a MUST try for anyone who has not been there. We will be making another trip...just to try other items on the menu! (Thanks to management for the special welcome..and to Toby for being so patient and friendly while we tried to decide!) Definitely a new favorite for us!

The fried chicken was excellent.

The place was awfully loud and I did not care for that.

Waiter made 2 major mistakes by delivering: 1) white meat when I ordered leg and thigh; 2) delivered to my friend mac and cheese when he clearly order mashed potatoes. But the waiter certainly was cordial, if not competent.

Spoonbread was really cornbread; not spoonbread.

Mashed potatoes were good but way too much for my lunch appetite.

Collard greens were mediocre.

If I were to return, I would order only the fried chicken but with no side dishes.

Customers were nearly all white and under 40 years of age. Is Indianapolis not diverse?

I guess that my recommendation is that The Eagle hire managers and chef that know southern cooking and hire employees who do not cater only to young white customers.

Parking can be difficult. There is metered street parking and there is a paid parking structure about ½ block away.

Had their chicken sandwich and a side of fries. Always a good sandwich - size of sandwich and portions of the sides are a good value for the money.

Four of us visited this place to have dinner.
Bottles of wine were discounted 50 percent and it was a good deal.
My wife is allergic to egg and the bearer took special care altering menu with the support of chef.
Ordered items were also prepared according to our taste buds.
Will visit again.
