I was in Indianapolis for business last minute and was happy to find the Harney House not even a five minute walk from my office. It is on the edge of an adorable historic neighborhood and close to over a dozen decent restaurants and bars. The decor is very traditional B&B, kitschy but sweet nonetheless. I stayed in the Garden Room and was impressed with the amount of space. The jacuzzi tub was a nice bonus and the bed comfortable (if you like a firmer bed). The shower was a bit on the small side and, being a 5'2" petite woman, that says a lot coming from me. The owner was very welcoming and accommodating, and breakfast was simple, but delicious (the homemade scones were awesome). Highly recommend this place!

We have stayed here in garden room, love it. Stayed in penthouse this time. Bed was not as comfortable and shower was too small. Everything else was fine.

Concerned it would be really hot in warmer months too. Baked goods at breakfast are awesome!!

The Harney House Inn is a real gem. I am so glad we found it. We are an English couple who were visiting our son (studying in Indianapolis) and wanted to avoid the corporate chain style hotels and wanted to have a more personal experience, but with all the necessary creature comforts. Debra and her lovely home ticked all the boxes! We stayed in the Garden Room. Very pretty and everything we could possibly need. Debra and her family have sensitively restored this beautiful old house over a number of years.Home cooked breakfasts in the lovely dining room. Just a short walk to downtown Indy. Debra herself was the perfect host: welcoming, kind and at the same time discreet. We really couldn't have asked for more. Thank you so much. Tamsin & Richard

My wife and I were looking for a comfortable, homey place to stay in Indianapolis for several mid-week nights. We wanted to be close enough to downtown that we could park the car for our entire stay. The Harney House Inn on the Eastern edge of downtown was perfect. We walked everywhere, even visiting the zoo and botanical gardens which were about 1.5 miles away on the West side of downtown. It was an easy walk. The "room" was really a suite with a large bedroom, attached bathroom w/ shower, roomy kitchen and living area. Deb, the inn keeper, is very friendly and attentive. We picked the time we wanted breakfast each morning and Deb served it right on schedule. Deb's daughter bakes home-made pastries each morning to go along with the hot breakfast. Add in coffee, tea and juice and it was a great start to the day. Great location, great breakfast, homey "room" w/ comfortable bed, free wi-fi, and most importantly, a great inn-keeper. If you are spending time in Indianapolis, spend your nights at the Harney House Inn.

Room Tip: This is actually a B&B. All rooms are cozy and comfortable.
