We spent a night here two nights ago, our first time. We were way-impressed!

The house is beautiful; the neighborhood classic and interesting; our room super-quiet and furnished very nicely, and the staff person (I wish I could remember her name; her daughter was assisting her) could not have been kinder or more helpful. Breakfast on Sat. was quiche--delicious, with many bread selections available. We felt lucky as there was only one other room occupied when we were there--had the house virtually to ourselves. Very reasonably priced--roughly the same as a 3-star hotel, maybe less--and we were within walking distance of the Benjamin Harrison home, which was why we were in town. We'd definitely stay here again. In fact, the night before we stayed in a regular hotel in another city and slept poorly. We both slept like babies at the Looking Glass!

I have stayed in many B&Bs all over the country, but in this one the otherwise friendly Innkeeper was strangely absent, and especially during the breakfast hours. There was a sign out every morning stating that she had stepped away from the Inn and to call a phone number if help was needed. I observed that there was never enough hot coffee available for all the guests and some other breakfast items, both hot and cold, were not replenished.
The room and bathroom were nice, but could use some decent light blocking curtains. The bed was also decent and overall the place was quiet.

It's a B&B in an Victorian style house, it has character! Don't stay here if uneven floors and funny staircases bother you. I was in the Portrait room on the main floor and I had a bathtub with a curtain around it for a shower. Would I like this in my house, no but for 2 nights it was OK. The large pocket door did let light and some sound through the gaps in the slats and that could be a problem during busy mornings if you are sleeping in a bit. Large room with painted wood floor in the bathroom and a lack of electrical outlets. Breakfast was served elegantly in the dining room. During the week 'cold' breakfast which included toast, cereal, fruit, yogurt, coffee, juice, etc but the ambiance was exquisite. There is a butler's pantry where soft drinks and snacks are available all the time. I used the refrigerator to keep my beer cold. A good value and the staff was very pleasant.

We stayed on a Saturday night after a theater matinee. Very nice property and expertly managed. The cost was no more than a standard hotel out on the interstate, and less than most central Indy options. Stayed in the Gold Room with queen bed and private bathroom. Spacious and yet cozy-comfortable. Beautifully updated bathroom with whirlpool tub. TV and DVD player with a selection of DVDs available, or books in a common room downstairs. Excellent breakfast, especially with the hot dish offered on weekends. It was really nice not dealing with a hotel breakfast crowd. They managed our parking at the back and we used Lyft to get around. Tinker St Restaurant just 5 minutes' walk north was an excellent recommendation. I would stay again at any of their three inns.

Room Tip: Gold Room has a very new looking update with whirlpool tub

We picked the Looking Glass Inn as something a little different from the chains that we had been staying in as part of a road trip. I spotted on previous reviews that they like to know when you will be arriving so that the inn keeper can greet you on arrival. We managed to do this and found no trouble in parking and unloading on our arrival.

The inn is a good size with many rooms available to book. We stayed in the “Portrait Room” which is on the ground floor and accessed via a huge sliding door. The room itself was a good size with plenty of storage. We worried as the bed frame creaked a lot when you sat on it / got off it, but didn’t make much noise whilst actually asleep on it so this wasn’t a problem. The bathroom had an old-style free standing bath tub, and we found water pressure to be fine. The toiletries provided were re-stocked during our stay.

Breakfast during the week is a “cold” breakfast (though they do have a toaster) but there was plenty to choose from. The dining room was just across the hall from our room so the smell of coffee was pleasant to wake up to! The other guests were not noisy at all which meant there was no disturbance in staying on the ground floor.

The Inn has a reading room at the front, and a parlour that guests can use (though we didn’t see anyone there during our stay). There is also a conservatory at the back of the property with a number of board games for guests to use. Upstairs they had a small collection of DVDs & magazines that guests could take back to their rooms should they want to. There was also a small “Butler’s pantry” upstairs that was stocked with coffee, cold cans of soda, and some snacks like crackers, popcorn, and chips.

There was a Kroger Supermarket a short walk from the hotel, and I think it was about a mile to walk to the centre of Indianapolis. The Speedway was around 6 miles away (about 10-15 minutes drive) so not too far away from attractions.

Overall, this was a pleasant stay.
