There are many steakhouses in Indy including the famous St. Elmo's, but our "go-to'place:"remains Ruth's Chris. It is in a good location downtown, it is beautifully appointed, the entire staff is professional, and every food item we have ever gotten has been superb. On our most recent visit I got the largest Caesar salad I have ever had anywhere to begin. It was wonderfully balanced between the natural taste of the romaine lettuce, the fresh cheese, crunchy croutons, and the perfect amount of dressing. The four quarters of an heirloom tomato was a nice touch as well. It was quite literally large enough for an entree, so i only ate about 2/3rds. My wife and I both ordered a petite filet and shared a side of mashed potatoes. We agree that we have never had a better steak than one gets here. The quality of the cut and attention to properly preparing it is the best and the potatoes are so good that we seldom get a second side. We also love the fresh bread. Our main server, Martin, was friendly, competent, and funny. To top it off we both opted for the creme brulee with berries which is the best around.

This is not a cheap night, but even for thrifty people it is well worth a visit for a special occasion--we noted birthdays and an anniversary being celebrated near us.

We were in Indianapolis for business. We booked this restaurant online. When we arrived we were amazed by the live piano performance at the bar. Then we were kindly escorted to our table. The bread served with butter was amazing. We had 3 bottles of wine with their ribeye. It was delicious. The waitress was one of the best we have seen. You should definitely have the creamy spinach on the side.

Food is pricey and all items a la carte but side dishes are shareable. Must try lobster voodoo...that should be a meal in and of itself. Medium Ribeye steak was cooked to perfection. Each bite was more delicious than the last. Lastly, cocktails made by Mode could quench any thirst. Pomegranate Martinis were amazing.

Celebrating a graduation with 8 family members (3 generations). They gave us an alcove-like table that was almost like having a private room. Service was superb—very attentive and we kept our waitress busy! Steaks were great, macaroni and cheese was sinful, vegetables were fresh and a needed bit of healthfulness. Good wine selection at reasonable prices. Could not have had a better place. Everyone loved it, although steaks and Mac n cheese were the favorites.

We love date nights out to Ruth Chris. Both my husband and I think they have the best steak by far. They make each dining experience memorable whether it’s your birthday or anniversary or just a date night out. The filet mingon and lobster voodoo are my menu favorites!
