Very interesting visit, great layout allowing leisurely strolls around the grounds and buildings. Weather wasn't really in our favour but still very enjoyable. We have already decided to return when the weather is better. Restaurant was a welcome stop for a coffee. Nice food and reasonably priced.
All in all a very enjoyable day with plenty to keep the interest of adults and children.

Even if you're not a horse person, this place is worth a visit. It's very well laid out, and really interesting to learn what they do here, and what they charge to get the studs to mate with female horses. Really interesting, and great seeing the horses up close. The staff were very friendly, which made it that much better. I'd recommend going here for a n interesting day out.

The National Stud and Japanese Gardens is a family friendly, interesting and enjoyable place to visit. Easily accessible from the M7 and well signposted with plenty of free car parking. The entry fees are very reasonable and include an excellent guided tour of the stud, entry to both the gardens on site and to the small but interesting museum. There is also a children's playground and an excellent restaurant with a good selection of dishes and treats at reasonable prices. The staff are very welcoming and the overall ambience is well kept and spotlessly clean. Spend the day and enjoy a great lunch or snack. Bring waterproof clothing and comfortable sensible shoes, the tour is outside and the gardens, especially the Japanese Gardens, have steep steps and stepping stones and running water.

Stopped on way to Dublin. Had checked tour times. Arrived just in time for Tour. Tour guide was brilliant.

Don't think it would have been as good with out Guide.

Was well worth it and was educational.

Nothing really to see in Garden as February.

I had been looking for somewhere to stop between Dublin and limerick and the stud farm kept coming up. I kept rejecting this as neither of us are into horses. Anyway we ended up going anyway and had a really nice walk.

There are plenty of horses to see - the finer details totally lost on me but interesting to see the wee foals and the big race horses. The grounds are beautifully kept and therefore a lovely place for a wander about. The Japanese garden is beautiful and the guide tells a lovely story of someone's life through the plants.

Last but def not least is the cafe. Where we had some lovely cakes - the bigger food items also looked good and next time we are passing we will stop for lunch.

So pls don't be put off by the horses this is a lovely place to stop!
