Very enjoyable late breakfast. Great view, delicious pulled pork brioche and subtly flavoured tumeric latte.

Self service order and payment. Food/drinks came in a reasonable time frame.

Had dinner with friends to enjoy the balmy summer evening. The views are fantastic, gorgeous sunset. Because we had made a reservation, we got table service (odd policy) and we ordered off both menus. The starters from both Malobo and Hermanos were tasty and enjoyed. Our wine was crisp and very chilled.

Then things started to go a little downhill. Service was mediocre – when the wine was brought with only two glasses, we asked for two more for the very obvious four humans at the table, and we were greeted with a little surprise that we wanted TWO MORE? OK no big deal, perhaps just amusing.

As the evening wore on, there seemed to be an awful urge to just get us the hell out of there. There were regular requests to clear plates when we were still going on entrees. Mains were average to say the least; and again, this annoying request to clear plates when some of us were still eating! We asked for some more time between entrees and mains (to digest the filling starters) and at that point, also clearly stated we were wanting a leisurely, relaxed (read: not rushed) dinner experience please.

Service got poorer. As the evening wore on, it was increasingly difficult to get the attention of wait staff. They were very occupied with packing up, around diners who were still eating and drinking. Imagine having a relaxed coffee at your table only to have an arm shoot out in front of your face to whisk away the small decorative pot plant on your table. It felt like: “I wanna go home soon, so can you please hurry up, drink and leave”.

Ordering dessert took some time, with menus being delivered, then being removed but no order taken, then surprise that we wanted dessert, to an awful lot of note taking in a small notebook to write down two crème brulees. Requesting the bill also took some time, with staff hell bent on cleaning and packing up to get the hell out of there, rather than serving customers. Paying was even funnier: standing inside at the register with money in hand, waiting and waiting, watching staff rush around and pack up. Had to bellow “HELLO I’D LIKE TO PAY PLEASE” to get the account settled.

So what started as a lovely night out in a beautiful setting, ended up with us feeling rushed and unwelcome. A shame for a relatively nice venue in a lovely spot. Some more attention to customers and genuine service would go a very long way.

Apart from food-stained menus & sticky tables the breakfasts are very good. The serves are generous and the coffee superb. Worth a visit but leave it for a week or two!

Variety of foods on offer - two different menus a bit confusing. Delicious juice, fried the salad with calamari, brushetta, salmon poke bowel and fried chicken sandwich. Overall very good and reasonably priced. A bit too much ginger in the poke bowel, Grilled options for chicken and calamari would be excellent! Overall great!

My experience at Malobo went from bad to worse. The location is great and the food was nice but the service was terrible. Staff are mainly young, rude and more interested in hanging out with each other than serving you. My order was incorrect, despite double checking it at the counter. We had to ask TWICE to get someone to clear our table from the people before us and we had no cutlery or table water until our food came out despite our two requests. Unfortunately the beautiful view and good food was outweighed by the poor service. I won’t return.
