My family moved to Naperville around 1975, and my parents still live in the same house. I visit every other year. When the Indigo Hotel opened on the Naperville Riverwalk, we (lots of friends from NCHS Class of '86) were excited to have a beautiful hotel in the downtown area. As a senior member of the reunion committee, I can state that if the Hotel Indigo had opened sooner, it would have been in consideration for our homebase hotel for our 30th Reunion in 2016.

So, out of curiosity I had to visit the hotel and the rooftop bar just to see what they were like. This review is going to focus on the hotel lobby:

WOW! Upon entering the lobby, my eyes were immediately drawn to the hotel library. This is no ordinary library - my husband and I spent over 30 minutes oohing and aahing over the various vintage and first edition publications proudly displayed. Lovely hard cover novels with original spines and the scent of rich, original typesetting. Many of the classics were here, like Moby Dick and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. So cool!

While we were fan-sniffing through the library, the solitary front desk employee wandered over. He had been tidying up around the front lobby, and was very friendly. I asked him if the hotel was popular, and he leaned in conspiratorially and informed me that tonight, an obscure Thursday night at the end of June, there were only 4 rooms left in the whole hotel.

The whole vibe of this place is modern but respectful of times gone by. I would 100% stay here if the reunion committee decides to select this hotel for the 35th reunion!

We stayed over a long weekend. We had our dog and paid a pet fee that was reasonable.

The hotel is newer and it sits along the river walk. Parking was in the adjacent garage. Very convenient parking.

The hotel staff were very nice and accommodating.

Our room was nice and the finishes were modern and very tasteful. We did not have a mini fridge in our room, so that was the only downside.

The hotel restaurant and bar on the second floor was comfortable and the food and drink selections were very good. The wait staff were very nice and courteous.

The river walk and downtown area is very nice. Once we parked our car at the hotel, we didn’t need to get back in the car to go anywhere. Everything is within walking distance. Several restaurants and shops were within 6 blocks.

I will be back to this hotel when I visit Naperville again.

We've stayed here twice in the last year and absolutely LOVE the location! You can walk to downtown Naperville and all the shops and restaurants, and along the beautiful Riverwalk. The Riverwalk is well worth exploring! We were always greeted by friendly front desk staff and didn't have any issues checking in. The rooms are large, clean, and feel very modern. The free parking in the garage is also nice. We'd like to return on our future trips to Naperville, but there are a few things making us reconsider: 1 - Each time we've stayed we've been kept awake or woken up by lots of noise! The 1st stay we were apparently right above a restaurant/bar and could hear the crowd for hours into the night (including hearing silverware clinking on dishes!). This most recent stay were on the 3rd floor but could still hear people outside on the streets. It was like our window was open (we never opened a window) and we could hear conversations and laughter until late. We also heard other guests on our floor as they came down the hallway & into their room in the middle of the night. Again, it seems the walls are pretty thin & we could hear a lot of what was going on. 2 - There is no refrigerator in the rooms. We stayed in a standard king the 1st stay and a king suite the 2nd and didn't have a fridge in either. A big bummer because we had some delicious leftovers from a local restaurant our 1st night there and weren't able to keep them. This is disappointing since even lower priced hotels will include a fridge. 3 - The lighting isn't very good. We kept looking for more light switches for overhead lights, the room always seemed dim. We will be visiting Naperville again in the next few months and haven't decided yet if the location is worth the gamble and the price.

Dear Guest -

Thank you very much for your detailed comments on Trip Advisor. We sincerely appreciate your two visits and your positive comments about the location and the guestrooms, but were also concerned to hear of the exterior noise issues you experienced while staying with us. We are working with our restaurant partners on Water Street with noise remediation issues and I am confident we will address these as we move forward. We at IHG believe that every guest should be able to get a restful sleep at night without any noise or other distractions. We believe in this and actually track the "Sleep Quality" of our guests through a specific metric.

Thank you again for you visit and your candid comments. We hope to have you back and if you call my office prior to your arrival, I will make sure we reserve a nice room for you away from any noise and on a higher floor. I will also make sure we have a mini-refrigerator in your room so that you can bring back those delicious leftovers from your favorite restaurant back to your room and enjoy them again the following day!

We look forward to seeing you soon but in the interim, please be safe on the road and have a joyous summer!

Warmest regards,

We had two rooms for a graduation. The staff was great. Easy to navigate but you do need instructions re the two sections so pay attention to the front desk. Easy free parking which is in the garage across the street and attached by an above street walkway. Watch for the signs and follow and its easy. Elevators. Breakfast was good and waitress was exceptionally good. Coffee. Easy to get up, eat, call a Lyft and get to airport with no hitches due to breakfast timing or checkout. Bed super comfortable. We were exactly on the river and the view was beautiful. Bathroom unusually large and nice, great shower. Rooms spacious. Check in and out was fast, organized, easy. Both rooms agreed they would be happy to stay at this Indigo again, and it left us all with a superior impression of the Indigo chain. Nice going!

Room Tip: River view was wonderful.
