We stayed the weekend before the solar eclipse as this was just north of totality.
The hotel had a nice package for a special weekend and provided some extra activities, such as pamphlets with activities in town, a guest bag the night before checkout and tickets to a water park in town and drink coupons for their guest reception nightly. The guest reception may be a regular occurrence but was nice as it also included a food spread.
There was also a 24 hour pool that limited kids after a certain time of night.
Most importantly the staff was super friendly, despite getting constant phone calls from last minute eclipse seekers traveling and looking for hotels.

Bottom line....
Price is fair.
Rooms are very clean.
Breakfast is free and good.

Stopped on a drive from NC to IL.
Price was fair. Rooms clean and nice. Help were very friendly. Bkfast was good.

Overall - not too much going on in Mt Vernon but this hotel will help you get through the transition to greener fields.
The BBQ place at the other end of the parking lot was excellent.

For runners/ or parents with young kids - there is a town park about 1.5 miles away from the hotel. Had a large 1 mile track and multiple playgrounds there. And about half way there is a grocery store.

Easy day. Pleasant stay. Would repeat in a heart beat if in the area again.

This hotel is overpriced and we needed to book for three days $450/$260/$115 we are club members! We requested the AAA rate when we reserved, and we were told she could not make an adjustment because the system was locked. While in the pool area, Other patrons stated they were only staying one night and not at the rate we we're paying;$260 for one night. Our room was not cleaned on our return at 5pm, after spending all day outside in 94 degree weather you would think we would at least have a clean room to shower at $450 per night! Even after it was cleaned no toiletries were in the bathroom. We were not told about the drinks and light dinner when we arrived on our first night, we went out for a early dinner and found out that we were suppose to be given tickets at checkin. Last night they were selling rooms for one night at $500/night. Today they say they are sold out; but sold for $204 for a similar room. Again it is less than we are paying. We tried to negotiate with the front desk/system locked; tried to call Choice Hotels customer service and was only able to leave a message. Can this be resolved?

We just stopped here for one night on our way north, but you could enjoy a whole week here! Spacious rooms with desk as well as a sitting area with sofa and table. Very clean and comfortable. Wish we had time to enjoy the indoor pool and spa! Nice fitness center and a beautiful sitting area outside, with comfortable furniture, a fire pit and even a cortoss game! Excellent hot breakfast in the morning, and a very friendly and efficient staff. And the Mexican Restaurant next door is awesome!
