“Went to Hike - Found a great campground and picnic areas”

We went there to hike as this park was mentioned in "Second Edition Hiking Illinois" by Susan L. Post. We hiked the Ghost Dance Canyon trail, Pine Tree trail, Bluff trail, and Oak Tree trails. We also explored their campground and found paved sites and a swimming pool that was closed for the season. The park has many nice picnic areas, I wish we had packed a lunch.

A lot of the trails get washed out by water so if you are there in a wet season you could get your feet wet on the trails. Trails also cross creeks in several places without bridges.

The nature was beautiful and oh so quiet!

This state park is beautiful, well maintained and easy to find. It has a swimming pool with a big fun adult size slide, and picnic benches. Entry is $5.00 and food can be purchased. Great walking trails! Basketball court for teens. Helpful park staff and friendly visitors. Great for couples and families to enjoy an outdoor picnic.

A lovely asset to this area of the Shawnee National Forest. Rocks to climb, a pool, and a fine campground.

We just popped in here as we were hiking in Shawnee. This was fairly small but had a nice spring, clear water, and some big rocks to wander around and on. Nice, quick stop.
