Alfie's has been a fixture in the Glen Ellyn/Wheaton area for over 30 years. Friendly with strong drinks and good food it is a "go to" place to eat in the area if you want to avoid the chain or expensive, new chic restaurants in the area. Outstanding baby back ribs and burgers.

This place has been around a while... I have been there 2x. The first time was better than 2nd. So. I will say maybe the second time was a bad night for the staff... 1st time better. A decent experience....... Not bad not too good.

Tasty burgers...plain and simple. Great fish and chips too. Ambience is noisy and fun. Casual. I have not had the ribs...but I know people who just love them. Ice cold drinks and a bar, top things off.

Not sure how to write this review. The building itself is interesting, English Tudor style. The food is rather typical of Chicago area family restaurants. One odd thing about the food is that you have to request lettuce and tomato for your burger if that's what you ordered. We didn't realize that, and the server didn't mention it when she took the order, until the burger arrived sans these garnishments. Would it have been so hard for the server to ask? On the plus side they almost got a tuna melt right. Most places toast the bread and cheese so fast the tuna salad never gets warm, in fact it often stays rather cold. Here it ranged from cool to like warm. That's better than fridge temperature.

Now the odd part. In one place sailing ship models are part of the decoration. The strings representing the rigging ropes are covered with dust. Very much a put off. On exit it was noted that the push bars on the door were filthy! Time to get some windex and put the busboys to work. When these public areas are this dirty one wonders what things in the back are like.

I really enjoyed this great family restaurant. Very busy on a Friday night, they managed to seat our party of 5 in only a few minutes, and helped us seat three more after the fact. Ordering, table service, and food quality were top notch. I can see why this place is a local institution. Try their signature burgers and ribs!
