The Logan Square location is kind of off the beaten path, and the street parking was a bit challenging as was the 45 minute wait, but we got a very tasty meal in a surprisingly peaceful and quiet environment. My ham and egg panini was very very good, the egg cooked perfectly. My wife enjoyed a scramble with lake trout. It’s a crying shame that the North Chicago (Highland Park, Northbrook, Lake Forest, Deerfield) suburbs don't have establishments like Lula's.

Lula Cafe offers lunch and dinner and the turkey sandwich, beet bruschetta, spaghetti, dry aged beef sirloin, lamb meatballs and persimmon pudding are highly recommended. But don't skip breakfast or brunch. From farm to table, from freshness to innovation, it's the best in town. Located at 2537 North Kedzie Boulevard in Logan Square, Lula Cafe has been serving innovative dishes and pleasing customers and attracting rave reviews since 1999. It's open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to midnight on Saturday and Sunday. Start with the house pastries, including sweet corn brioche, pear and gruyere turnovers and blueberry muffins. How about a parfait with apples, almonds, goat's milk, pomegranate and chia seed pudding? Or braised chicken with sunnyside eggs? Or Challah French Toast with butterscotch, peaches, almonds and creme fraiche? Love the smoked lake trout and the two scrambled eggs with house potatoes and sourdough toast, the buttermilk pancakes and the grain bowl with bitter greens, wood grilled apple, celery, white cheddar, soft boiled egg and hazelnut vinaigrette. But best of all is the Classic Lula Breakfast Burrito with avocado, onions, tomato, green chile, potato, eggs and cheddar cheese. I'll take two.

The service, the food, the environment - all of it was brilliant. The spiced peanut butter sandwich is something that I've never had before and it's changed me forever.

The coffee was fine, I just got filter, and the place was full of a bunch of really cool looking people. It is a busy place so not somewhere to go to park up with a laptop.

I've spent far too much time in the tourist traps whenever I go to the States - so I've tended to despair about the food. But Lula made me feel like Chicago is the food mecca of the U.S.

This is a cafe, that wouldn't be out of place in New Zealand. The ingredients were delicious. We had various meals including sandwiches (on both visits) with combination of fresh and pickled vegetables. Brilliant flavour and texture.

I had essentially cold satay noodles with tofu. I'm not big on tofu but this was fine. The noodles were delicious and full of flavour.

Some good old buttermilk pancakes were nice, no where near enough of that lovely whipped butter the Americans have, but was soon provided more on the asking.

Coffee ... my particular poison tends to be double espresso with runny cream... I enjoyed the coffee here.

Staff were great, polite and sufficiently attentive that the obligatory tip felt deserved.

I had a great brunch experience with some friends. The coffee was great and the food was delicious. The wait was not too long for four people considering we had shown up for peak brunch hour. Definitely recommend checking out Lula Cafe.
