I have been getting my regular espresso and tasty food fix from this Starbucks for over 10 years, anywhere from 1-5 times per week, almost always via the drive-through. I used to be able to count on 1) delicious drinks, 2) wonderful food, and 3) amazing service. The smiles and friendliness of the baristas were wonderful, and seemed most sincere. In the rare event that a problem occurred with your order, they fixed it ASAP. Lately, however, this all has been slipping. The drinks are still wonderful but very often the cold ones are given without a straw, they seem to take much longer to obtain, and sometimes there is a mix-up with a different order. The food has also somehow slipped, even though it is the same food, the ovens must be wonky now or something because every single time I've gotten a sandwich with bacon, the bacon never seems cooked, and the middle of the egg is often cold despite the outside edges being searing hot. Finally, the service: what used to be a "Good morning! How are you today?" followed by speedy delivery of the order with a smile has now turned into a "12.96" accompanied by the barista barely looking out the window as payment is obtained and order is distributed, the server seemingly very distracted by whatever is happening inside, lastly followed by a "here you go" when the last item is given.
The whole experience has added up to me making more coffee and breakfasts at home, which is a good thing, but it makes me sad that what once was a special treat with positive human interaction has now simply evolved into a fast-food window.
