Wonderful business that regretfully closed recently. Their Sunday Brunches were phenomenal! A vast variety of items available on the menu. Fast and friendly service with a smile.

We visited Marie Callender's for the first time in a long time. Not many people there which is an indication, but we went in because we were curious. We waited a bit to be greeted, ordered drinks and our meal, and then waited, and waited. When the server finally brought our drinks, she said that she had been distracted. I think we waited 30 minutes to receive our drinks. Then probably another 20 minutes for our food. I think our server was training new servers, but there was a lot of conversation going on. There were a total of 10 people in the room we were in, not enough to cause the long delay. The food itself was okay, but the best part was the piece of pie! Wonderful as I remembered it!

It had been a while since we ate at Marie Callenders. We decided to have lunch there.
They use to have a sandwich called a Ham Stack but they don't have it anymore. I chose the BBQ Tri-Tip Sandwich and it was very good. My wife had the Quiche Sampler and she said it was very good. The service was also very good. We had pie to go because we were full. We had apple and a coconut cream their pies were awesome.

We spent the day scoping out our spot in the mountains north of Boise, returning to Boise pretty late. Marie Callender's was one of the few restaurants still open - I think it was after 9 pm when we pulled in. Not a single car was in the parking lot, so we were sure they'd closed early. But the door was open and they said we could get dinner - so we did. We were literally the only customers in the restaurant. It's good food - and good dessert. The only problem we had was the A/C was on so low that we were freezing - and it was maybe in the 60s outside so not hot at all. I was happy to get dinner and pleased with the meal, but I couldn't wait to get outside to warm up. : )

We needed a meal at about 9:30 and chose Marie Callender's because it's open until 11. The parking lot was practically empty, and it looked like no one else was there, but the receptionist seated us and gave us menus and took our drink order. While we were deciding what to eat, the manager approached along with the waitress and said, "We aren't serving food except for pie and coffee." No explanation . . . so we just said, OK, we'll have pie. The waitress was nice and took our orders, but we were still at bit miffed about not getting a meal. When we got our pie, we noticed that the pieces were really small. At $5 and $8, you'd expect a large piece of pie. As we finished, we still saw no other customers, just a bunch of kids running around eating ice out of the salad bar (manager's?). When we went to pay, the manager was at the cash register. After paying, as we were going out the door, he said, "Thanks for coming in." We both turned around and he was smirking! Really, I don't know what the problem was! Is business so poor that they had sent the cook home? Were they just anxious to get out of there? Weird!
