I googled dinner locations in Maylands and Rotana popped up. We decided to give it a go, what a great decision! We ordered a number of dishes to share. The service was good, the food was fresh, flavoursome and generous portions.
We ordered the tabouleh, kibbeh nayyeh (raw meat), chicken mansaf, chicken shawarma and halloumi salad. The kibbeh nayyeh was the highlight, the tabouleh also rates highly. The whole meal was amazing.

To top the evening off we enjoyed a Turkish coffee with semolina cakes.

Highly recommend this little gem.

Thank Emma C

Great venue for staff gathering and celebration. The place is clean, bright, inviting and spacious, serving a variety of food that are freshly cooked and caters for all tastes. Really good value for money. The staff are very friendly too. Located right at the heart of old souk near the famous Bab Al Bahrain. Parking is no issue as valet service is provided too.

Called to asked of they were fully licensed and the girl told me yes on the phone. Turns out they are not and no byo allowed either-shame really wanted a glass of wine with dinner. Anyway the food was very good and tasty and good price.
We then went at the back to have some sisha and asked for some water and had to buy bottles because they couldn't give us a jug (but we had one with dinner...). My friend ordered a coffee and it took 50 minutes to come..in saying that the girl was doing all the drinks orders by herself and was doing her best as it was quite busy.
So overall good food but don't order drinks lol

We live not too far from here and have visited as a couple and with family several times since they first opened- our first visit was not long after opening day.
On previous visits we enjoyed the food very much, and the fried cauliflower was a particular favourite, as were the grilled skewers.
Sadly, our most recent visit was something of a disappointment. I'm guessing that because it was a Sunday night, they were not expecting many diners and so had only one waitress. As it turned out, the inside tables ended up pretty well fully occupied, which kept the poor waitress on the hop.
Looking through the menu, I noticed that many of the familiar dishes we enjoyed were missing, and there were a lot of new dishes. Confusingly, the menu seemed to be pretty evenly divided between Middle Eastern cuisine and Italian (a new introduction) food, with a couple of "Mexicana" dishes thrown in for good measure. I asked the waitress about this and she confirmed that they had a new chef who had changed the menu. We lamented the deletion of the (outstanding) fried cauliflower, and the waitress replied that many customers had said the same thing.
For a restaurant which is supposed to be Middle Eastern/halal, we felt the introduction of Italian dishes on the menu was a poorly thought out move, particularly as there are already Italian restaurants in the area. While our meal wasn't awful, it also wasn't the delicious dining experience we had been looking forward to. Regretfully, it's unlikely we will return: there are too many good restaurants in this area to spend a fair amount of money at one that is just "average".
