I still remember the trip up from the Penang Intl.airport. As your ascend, you'll see lush pristine rainforest, and a cool breeze as the temperature drops, and there'll be views of both the sea (Straits of Malacca) and Bayan Lepas (a town with dozens of electronics and semiconductor plants that lits up at night).
Once you enter this place, the architecture of the lodges, he pool, the koi pond, the restaurant and the surrounding hills and trees will captivate you. You'll feel the wind, the sound of leaves ristling, the view and sound of birds and insects and the sense of privacy and serenity.

The Burmese staff serves high quality western cuisines amidst a backdrop of gorgeous scenery. I can't never forget the image and experience of this place. We only hope owners of the nearby surrounding hills do not indiscriminately choo down those pristine leafy trees. Malihom is worth the trip and the experience. I misses it!

This was a very nice stay and we have excellent memories from it. The burmese staff is very smiley and friendly.
Do not expect a luxury getaway though. The common areas are quite dusty but it seems in the middle of the jungle, spider webs come back everyday and the atmosphere can be quite humid. Please expect all sorts of bugs around, which nature lovers will enjoy and seasoned city dwellers may find harrowing! We did not find the cooking to our taste and tried to go down to Balik Pulau or Teluk Kumbar for food. The staff kindly drove us down and up the steep hill, and we laboriously got some Uber or Grab to pick us up at the shelter down the hill. I definitely recommend Balik Pulau for food, especially Nan Guan!
At night, the jungle makes quite a rucus. The rooms are definitely not sound proofed (no glass and only mosquito netting) and black-out of windows a little random. The mattress was also on the hard side. Light sleepers may be better served with sleeping mask and earplugs. You are warned.

Room Tip: Sanook room by the pool has very nice views and is quiet. It can accomodate a child bed.

The room that we booked is 'dhamma'. The host was really kind to text us to inform us the light system, to go up the hill before we drove our car up the hill. The road was really steep and has a lot of sharp turnings. When we arrived, the host actually brief us and prepare us the issue about the bugs. We had a good night sleep and there's no bug at all. Even though the room is small and it had some mini spider webs here and there, it has the most amazing views from the hammock area! You can enjoy the wind and watching the city lights at night while swinging on the hammock. In the morning, you can just sit on the 'hanging' wooden chair nearby and listen to the sounds of nature. The staffs were with great hospitality. There was also a family of cats around. We enjoyed patting the cats and watching the kittens. I think it would be better if the pool can be cleaner. There were many falling leaves. But I would love to return to this place. The time spent here is definitely worthwhile.

This place was a monumental disappointment. As much as I could not wait to see it, I wanted to run away even faster.

Priced higher than 5* hotel in KL, offered dirty, stinky and small house built of bricks. Dirty windows were facing dirty balcony with rusted chairs and trash all over outside. Small bad would not properly fit normal size man. Ants, mosquitos and all sorts of insects traveling in and out through completely un-insulated doors and windows made living there additionally challenging. Open air toilet sounds romantic until you will be eaten alive by mosquitoes trying to do what all of us have to do from time to time. Random appearance of almost worm - yes, I did not write hot (!) - water was irritating beyond imagination.

Don't misunderstand me, there is nothing wrong with simple accommodation especially if it located in a middle of nowhere. But when you pay hundreds of Euros you expect a bit more than being surrounded by cruppy, cheapest stuff decorated with spider nets and be serviced by people barely speaking English - even if they smile nicely.

Totally overpriced food drives you crazy. You will pay 110 RM for dinner and 90RM for lunch and trust me, it is not worth it - simply eatable. 10 times overpriced. Dirty swimming pool also does not welcome.

Remember, you are in the middle of nowhere. You cannot even arrange another hotel as you have no access to internet. Clearly for a fraction of what you pay for the room you could have working internet there, but instead, management is saving pennies so that your life is miserable and you have to additionally get irritated by one more thing - that is random appearance of extremely slow internet connection.

I felt cheated like never before in my life. Also, we were there alone, so hopefully more people read reviews on TripAdvisor. Scam...

Room Tip: better don't come at all....
