Attended a convention with about 120 people in May, 2016, and the chef and kitchen staff went above and beyond in producing outstanding, tasty meals for us.

The hot breakfast buffets each morning and a seated lunch were excellent.

But the kitchen went over the top with our Hawaiian-themed banquet. The sauces were all delicious!

The Lomi Lomi salmon salad presented in small, half-coconuts was very tasty and exotic, and drew raves from the diners.

The chicken entree was marinated in a soy-based sauce and served with a Hawaiian-style dressing that featured small cubes of pineapple.

For dessert, the kitchen finished off with a delicious macadamia nut chocolate torte.

The flavors were amazing, and the fact that the chef and kitchen staff pulled off these delicious dishes for a crowd of more than a hundred is astounding.

Came to Jekyll for my husband's annual work conference. The Jekyll Island Club Hotel is definitely historic: Beautiful grounds, large rooms, excellent service and excellent food. The walls are paper thin....you can hear every screaming kid in the place and the doors are heavy wood that slam shut. Not quiet enough to sleep in. It rained for two days straight... There's very little to do on the island; when it's raining, the options are non existent. We ended up driving an hour to St. Simons for shopping and movies. So, my issue is more with the island than the hotel. There's very few places to eat and most required reservations and were full. The GA Sea Turtle Museum was the only activity worth mentioning and that only took up an hour and a half. The average age of people living on Jekyll is 71. This is definitely an island for the elderly. That's probably why the little kids were screaming so much! Oh, and bring bug spray... Bugs are terrible!

Elegant and very historic but with updated amenities like big flat screen TV. Free wi-fi but they censor with "Guest Content Filtering". Valet parking. Small rooms and they didn't have king sized beds except in pricey suites when we booked. Great, willing friendly service. Everyone seemed eager to make our stay special and go the extra mile Literately: they will shuttle you to anyplace on the Island. Golf, tennis, swimming pool and a very nice beach pavilion with a snack bar. They even have lawn croquet. Very relaxing pleasant place to stay. Feel like a gilded age billionaire on a lovely mostly unspoiled island.

Sometimes expectations can be so disappointing. We stayed at this hotel as part of an upscale tour package (the company is known for selecting great five-star hotels). And, this hotel has a great reputation, we expected a luxury resort. As long as you go without this expectation, you should be okay. The landscaping is beautiful and well-maintained. Just wish the interior of the hotel felt the same. Rooms are clean but felt like they could have done a lot more to maintain it. It is an old, historic building, but it felt like it hasn't bee updated since those days... peeling paint, badly chipped furniture, dented/marred fridge, yellowed curtains...etc. I guess our disappointed is compounded by the fact that we expected to experience Southern charm and hospitality from the staff and we continually disappointed. I won't list the experiences and they are all minor...but when you reflect upon the sum of our interactions, we did not feel that the staff was appreciative of our business. This review is focused on the hotel....this does not reflect the fact that Jekyll Island was a great experience.

The staff was absolutely fantastic, if you didn't ask you didn't get it when you ask you got it. Staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. If they didn't know they would find out for or to a staff member who would know. The restaurant's had great service and great food. Next time we go it will vacation.
