My wife and I got away for an overnight stay to head to the mountains and had the pleasure of revisiting this State Park facility. What a delightful surprise to find that the hotel and Lodge had been updated with a complete makeover in three of the four lodge areas. This hotel and lodge makes a perfect spot for family or community groups and returns it to its original luster as one of the best Georgia State park facilities. It’s location is also just around the corner from quaint Helen, Georgia which is a Bavarian village complete with bakeries and typical Germanic restaurants. In the world of limited travel, this hotel and lodge sets the standard in cleanliness as even the remote was cleaned and placed in a sealed plastic bag. So add this one to your getaway list!

We stopped at the Unicoi Lodge on a quick one night weekend trip to the Helen area. The hotels directly in Helen were ridiculously high in price so this was the best rate available. It was probably a good call and better than a lot of the hotels looked in the main part of Helen. Seeing a manager comment in another review that about half the rooms were renovated, I requested a renovated room and got one. There rooms are in excellent shape. They are very modern and they did a good job with the redesign. Most of the rooms have nice views of the mountains. My only minus was that the price is still high even though it was one of the lowest options in Helen. There is an additional fee on top of the rate that they make sound like a value and of service to you, but these extra fees are always annoying as a hotel guest. If you are going to the area though, you should definitely consider the lodge if you don't mind being a couple miles out from the city.

Room tip: Request renovated room and nice view

Went for a long weekend camping trip with my daughter and had an amazing time. I suggest booking cabin/campground/room and zip line tour at least 2 weeks early in the fall season. We weren’t able to book the zip line due to availability, but the friendly staff at Unicoi directed us to a nearby outfitter (Nacoochee Adventures) where we were able to still enjoy the fall foliage via zip line. Lots of trails and activities to enjoy in the Park and even more things to do in nearby with Helen and Anna Ruby Falls just minutes away. Can’t wait to visit again!

To call this place shabby is being kind. The rooms are dreadful. The place is dirty all around. The bedding is atrocious. Don't expect a decent blanket, pillow or towel. I have never seen a lodge at a Georgia State Park that falls to this level. We will not return and I would not recommend to anyone. Coral Properties needs to get on the ball and bring this place into the 21st century or just close it down altogether.

Thank you for your review. We will certainly check into your concerns. We have just completed a complete 21st century renovation of 60 of the lodge rooms and will complete the remaining 40 soon.

Lots of wild life to view and great setting. Nice and clean and plenty of room. Restaurant and bar in the lodge. I would not hesitate to return. Very peaceful and cost was reasonable. Staff were friendly and informative.
