Yesterday at lunch time my wife and I wandered into this small storefront Trinidadian restaurant and ordered one chicken roti sandwich and one shrimp roti sandwich.
The bill came to $20 and we had enough for two lunches. Roti is an Indian bread wrapped around stewed meat and veggies for a healthy hot sandwich. The ambiance is pretty low, and this is not a place for a fancy meal by any means. It is authentic, cooked and served by native Trinidadians. Sit at the bar or at the few tables. Free parking in front of the building facing Military Trail.

There is no printed menu and I don't know if you would find it or go without someone telling you about it but it is worth a try. It is as if you stepped into a kitchen on a quiet street in Trinidad. Just a few tables and a few people and food that tastes so true which is cooked while you wait - fresh and oozing with flavor. Forget the decor and enjoy what is offered.

From the minute you walk in Vidya (the owner) makes you feel like you are home! The food is always wonderfully delicious! She makes traditional Trinidadian and Guyanese food! We have ordered from her many times and have never been disappointed! You can call up, place your order and she'll tell you how long she needs! The bigger the order, the more time she'll need as everything is made fresh and hot! For us West Indian types, just tell her how much pepper you want in the food and she'll make it as hot as you want it! If you go once, I guarantee you will be back!

Not been over impressed with the US take on Indian food so decided to try a Trinidadian place as I heard Trinidadian food has lots of Indian influences. I have curried chicken Roti and it was superb. Big healthy portion beautifully spiced Boneless chicken something I had never had and totally enjoyed. From a local place, far more of a take out but very nice atmosphere and the first time in a long time I had tried a new cuisine . 12 out of 10 well done !!!!
