Interesting old hotel. Each of the rooms are named after one of Florida's governors. We stayed on the 3rd floor. Had a room with 2 queen beds. Room 305, the last room. We are senior citizens and were astounded to learn there was no elevator!! We had to carry our bags up two flights of stairs and lug them to the absolute farthest room in the hotel.
However, excellent location if you are interested in the Florida State Museum or the Capitol Building or the college. All within a few blocks walk. A couple of restaurants across the street - The Governor's Club (members only but the hotel can make a reservation for you; and Andrews which had a happy hour with half-price cocktails and really good menu with fish, salads, beef, chicken, burgers and vegetarian options. There is a sushi restaurant named Jasmine's around the corner of the hotel.
The Hotel has valet parking at $12.00 per day. A light breakfast is provided with room in the bar near hotel entrance.
Four poster beds with a handy stool if you are short like me to help get into the bed. Mattresses in our room were soft - we would have preferred firm.
Antique furnishings throughout.
Building is very old but exceptionally well kept and clean.More
