When I have friends or family in from out of town I like to take them to Harry's. The Tallahassee location is close to Florida's capitol complex and is in a nice city plaza within view of the state capitol building.
The food at Harry's is consistently excellent. On Tuesdays, they have reduced price appetizers and all-night happy hour drinks for anyone seeking an adult beverage.
The entrees have a Cajun flair and you'll find unusual items as side dishes such as grit cakes, collard greens, and Cajun mashed potatoes. My favorite two menu items are the Pork Tenderloin Medallions and the Cajun Shrimp/Scallops and Grits.
Try the Cajun Fondue appetizer for a cheesy and shrimp combination to start your meal off right.
The restaurant will slowly get crowded from 5:30PM and on into the evening, so you may have to wait a few minutes before getting seated. They have several tables that can be pushed together to seat large groups (e.g. 12 diners).
Last night's Pork Tenderloin Medallions were great. We arrived before 6PM and ordered off the smaller-portion "early bird" menu, but had plenty to eat (and had no wait for our table for five diners).
If you live in Tallahassee and have not tried Harry's, you're missing out on a local jewel. If you're visiting Tallahassee, plan a trip to Harry's. You won't be disappointed.
