My fiance and I just returned last night from a long weekend at the Inn. We ADORED the area. Sarasota is a BEAUTIFUL city. Very clean, quiet, and friendly locals. A LOT to do, great restaurants, and we didn't even scratch the surface during our short time there! The beach was gorgeous, and very clean, as well.
We loved being so close to the beach, and having access to be able to hop on the shuttle pick up/drop off right by the inn. No need for a car, unless you want to go back by the airport to Walmart, etc........(groceries expensive in the village)......
There is a lot to do where the shuttle can take you, but it's much more expensive.

We were a little disappointed with our room, or for the price we paid. It was clean, but not as clean as I think it SHOULD HAVE BEEN for 3 nights we were there, and total cost. (We also had plane fare expense). The bathroom could have been cleaner, especially the sink, and vanity. I would have also enjoyed daily maid service, or for that to be included with the room cost. There were a lot of ants in the kitchen, so it was hard to eat, make coffee, or leave anything out that wasn't sealed up. We took into consideration that the Inn is not brand new, but there were areas that needed improvement. Ex: better fitting sheets for the king size bed, more body towels, (we had plenty of hand towels and wash cloths), the wicker furniture was very worn, and the kitchen utensils, plates, drawers, were not very clean. I had to wash everything before using it. There was coffee, sugar, and creamer in the room, but we didn't know how fresh it was; or how long it had been there? The freezer was frosted over, and the ice cube trays had not been cleaned/rinsed/washed from the prior guest. There was dish soap under the kitchen sink, but it had been diluted, so we couldn't use it. There was candles on the hot tub porch, but we didn't have any matches and/or lighter. It would have been nice to have citronella candles, and some bug spray in the room.
Overall, the Inn is quaint, Eric is super friendly, and the area is FANTASTIC. We will return to Sarasota, but with our kids, so maybe at the resort?

Room Tip: Bring any food/drinks you can to cut down on cost of eating out, and there are no vendors on the bea...

Our room was on the far end with its own fishing pier. Yes the place is rustic compared to other places but we LOVED it!! Our place was clean. Yes the furniture , esp the couch was very worn and needs to be replaced but we weren't inside a whole bunch so it didn't matter. My biggest disappointment personally was the fact that our private hot tub didn't work the entire week but they offered us the private hot tub next door since the place was empty and gave us a bottle of bubbly. The staff and the owner were fantastic and we will def be going back!

Room Tip: the private pier is worth it, we caught all sorts of fish!

Upon arrival, the property appears overly "rustic" and unfortunately super campy. We were shown our prime waterfront (and most expensive) cabin "Montego Bay" and initially thought we should not stay. We went ahead and gave it a go. There were cords hanging from the appliances in kitchen, TV and cable box cords hanging in living room, along with extension cords and surge protectors. The "lea-valor" style pull curtains were missing many segments which did not provide privacy or protection from light. The furniture was uncomfortable and threadbare. The dishes had a residue on them and had to be washed prior to using? The mismatched sheets were thin- There were several "plug ins" that we unplugged as the aroma was over bearing of fake chemicals. The amazing reviews online seem misleading. We had roaches and palmetto bugs inside, not joking- not acceptable even with a short "rain". I've lived in S FL for 50+ years and understand we are in the tropics- . We did not use the jacuzzi due to how we found the inside. The property is not well cared for or maintained. We did not receive daily maid service nor were informed it was on a "as need" basis and should be asked for when we checked in. The kayaks were dirty and full of black water? The bicycle I rode to the beach seemed fine. The AC worked.

We decided to spend our last two days of our Florida vacation here after a week at Disney and three days at Universal. Within minutes of checking in, we knew that two days was not nearly enough time. The staff were friendly and very helpful with restaurant recommendations and beach recommendations. After days of being in impersonal hotel rooms it was refreshing to be in a spacious little place of our own where everyone could be in their own space. We stayed in the Key West cottage and it was beautiful. The pictures on the website cannot capture the beauty and peacefulness of the resort. It truly felt like we were the only guests but I know that we weren't. My husband and I sat for hours on our deck just taking in the view and relaxing. We just got home and have already decided that we must go back. It is a truly beautiful place run by amazing people.
