If the house is nice, the owner isn't... If she requests an important deposit you will not see back the colour of it. She used false pretences to make us pay for all that needs fixing before our stay. She pretended an emergency not to come to inspect and reimburse our deposit before we left...
We stop using the sink food disposal after a day as brown water came out of it when we used the dishwasher. She made us pay for a new disposal and maintenance of the dishwasher. She ask 40$ over the renting price for toilet paper, soap and cleaning liquid.,. plus another 75$ for "general utility" even if we didn't use air conditioning or heating as the weather in February was pleasant. Was it because we agree to leave the outside lights in the backyard as she asked us repeatedly even if it was a bother at night in the back bedrooms? She charged us 40$ for movies viewing knowing very well that we didn't do so and had no bill to show for it..
We had already paid 150$ as stipulated in the leasing agreement for house cleaning. She retains another 150$ on our deposit, saying that the kitchen smell fish. Of course we cooked during our 1 month stay but were nice enough to bag and freeze the fish bones left from the last meal before leaving so garbage would not smell in the garage, waiting for garbage day.
We though of having our dog with us and Mrs Norman ask 75$ over the deposit but refuses to give it back when we inform her that we were not bringing the dog... We found out after our stay that the previous renters had to pay 175$ for a fleas exterminator even if the fleas were from her own cat. She reclaimed the same amount from us even if we didn't bring the dog or had any fleas problem.
Moreover she states that we are responsible for the sinking of the garage driveway concrete and displacement of the mail box which is far from the said driveway and that we had no use for!!!
We understand that Mrs Norman is short of money as the Compass service man (TV, wifi, tel. ) came of over a diner time to cut all services for unpaid bills of over 300$ but do not feel responsible for her problems. We didn't complained that the house computer didn't work, that the mattress in the third bedrooms needs to be replaced, that the outside table asked for over an hour to be fixed (what we did so we could us it) that the sleepcovers in the living room were far from pristine, etc... We left her a brand new bicycle we had bought so we could go on trails as we could not bring a third one on our bike support. Of course we didn't hear of it...
