Description: Serving Sarasota for Over 25 years! The Old Salty Dog first opened its door for business in Siesta Key Village back on November 1st 1986. The owners original concept was to take a small popular village beer and hot dog stand and turn it into a casual Restaurant and Pub. They have mixed the best of the Florida Keys and their British heritage to create a fun family environment that is appealing to people from all walks of life. There are now 2 locations and they are patronized not only by their many regular local customers and characters but they also enjoy abundant new and repeat business from all over the United States and from around the World.

Our first dinner for vacation and it was yummy as usual. Had grouper sandwich which was excellent and peel and eat shrimp was great. Good service. We'll be back!

We stopped here for lunch before going to the Mote Aquarium. It was a great find! Everyone enjoyed their food and would eat here again. The coconut shrimp were amazing! The loaded Salty Dog was interesting, but good!

Old Salty Dog has three locations in the Sarasota/Venice area. Their popularity is derived from that fact that they offer what every beach-goer craves--tasty food and lots of it, especially hot dogs and fresh seafood, good drinks, from lemonade to beer to cocktails, and warm southern hospitality. The City Island location at 1601 Ken Thompson Parkway on Longboat Key, across Sarasota Bay from Sarasota, Florida, offers waterfront dining and stunning views for guests who arrive by boat or car, often from the nearby Mote Aquarium. The main attraction, of course, is the famous Salty Dog, a 1/4-pound hot dog dipped in the restaurant's signature batter and fried golden brown. Or try the loaded Salty Dog with sauerkraut, bacon, grilled onion, mushrooms, American cheese, cheddar, pepper jack and Swiss cheese. But the menu offers much more than that. How about English fish and chips, a basket of butterfly shrimp or chicken tenders, a lobster roll, an eight-ounce center cut steak, an eight-ounce Angus burger, baby back ribs, peel 'n eat shrimp or oysters on the half-shell? Don't forget the Maui Wow-Wee burger with pineapple, melted Swiss cheese and bacon or the West of the Trail burger with BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, bacon and onion vinaigrette. Wash it all down with root beer, Coke, lemonade or ginger ale.

Good food, excellent location. You can sit outside or inside - we sat near the doorway to have the outside without sitting in the sun.

Went there because I read they were very dog friendly. Got seated and put my 8 pound dog on my lap. Hostess came over immediately and in a not so friendly tone said that dogs had to be kept on the ground and that the staff are not permitted to touch them and that I should wash my hands after touching my dog. Should of got up and left then. Food was expensive for the quality. Drinks were good but also expensive, $10.50 for a rum punch. Waitress was good.
