We had the mahi tacos as an appetizer which were delicious. Our meals were excellent. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. We sat outside which was great, could hear the music being played under the roof cover, and watched the sun set.
For several years we have spent time in Sarasota and Marina Jack's was a favorite. The last two times we've gone, service has been terrible and the drinks, stingy, to say the least..and late in coming too. Perhaps the alcohol evaporated while we were waiting for it? Well, to say the least, we won't be going back.
Saw the bad review posted last week and felt compelled to set the record straight. Salad, rolls, blue cheese dressing, salmon, prime rib, green beans, mashed potatoes, key lime pie, service, cleanliness all excellent. Prime rib portion was very generous. Out at 6 and back at 8, beautiful views of the Sarasota waterfront at night. Gladly, there was no narration and plenty of Jimmy Buffet to accompany our meal. We were on the lower deck and it was only about 1/2 full. A truly delightful evening.
Have heard about this for a couple years since we bought down here 3 years ago. First of all because of the time change we could not see anything after sunset and that was a bit of bad thing. The food was just terrible they had salmon and prime rib the salmon was so fishey tasting and the rib didn't even look like it was cooked. To say the least would not do this again.
The primary draw here is the fantastic close to the water view. There's a choice of a bar and casual pub type dining on near water level, or a more formal dinner-menu upstairs. The downstairs bar has music many evenings. We particularly like this place in the winter when it is pleasant to sit outside in the warm but not scorching sun and watch the yachts cruise by or dock. Within walking distance of a pleasant waterside park or downtown Sarasota (across a busy street, but do-able).
Really enjoy the cocktails at sunset here. A very nice view. The food however is not very good and best avoided.
