Great variety of concerts and plays.
Prices are reasonable.
Parking is convenient.
Ushers are all volunteers and couldn't be nicer.
The Van Wezel in right on Sarasota Bay, a beautiful place to walk and take in the beautiful scenery.

There are no bad seats in the Van Wezel - affectinately known by locals as "The Purple Cow", you can't miss it when you drive by. Also an excellent view of the pristine Sarasota Bay...great shows as well.

In an acoustically excellent hall, an average symphony orchestra may sound good, and a good symphony orchestra might sound great. So when a very good orchestra plays beloved music well (Wagner, Grieg, Schubert), there results a short time spent in heaven. Lucky to hear one of Leif Bjaland's final conducting outings. Please, though, PLEASE, spend some of your capital fund on putting an aisle through the interminably broad sea of seats that comprise the majority of the hall. Imagine a fire in the place (better not).

I visited a performance of CATS. Everything about the Hall was perfect. Friendly and helpful service when I bought the ticket there, the friendliness at the door before the performance, the seats were roomy and comfortable, the legroom better than usual and the view of the stage unhindered. During intercession the service was just great. And most of all: the show was incredible, better than on Broadway and in Hamburg, germany.

The bar at intermission was dirty, sloppy, and slow. Saw Harry Conick Jr and the crowd was just sooo boring--so unenthusiastic... so decided not to see B.B. King there--maybe somewhere else, though in the East.
