Fantastic stay! Owner went above and beyond to accommodate me. Stayed in small room. Had to drive to beach access down the road. Quiet place with few rooms...Lovely green lawn, patio tables plural with chairs, BBQ grill, closet had everything necessary for trip to beach, even down to a beach towel! Such lovely flowers and plants on property---backed up by lagoon-FREE use of bikes and canoe...very quaint and old fashioned-No pool but oh well, price was within my budget. Although refrig was cube/small so was 13" tv such sufficed. Reception allover Sanibel for my cell phone, no matter where I stay is awful... This is a "green" small motel, which am not used to but did my part. Thanks for a lovely staycation as noting, I live in Ft Myers...

Room Tip: Am sure all rooms are great! This is located west of Ding darling Wildlife refuge....

West End is tucked into a residential neighborhood on the west side of the island, so its really off the beaten path. The beach is about a 3 block walk away. Its not a luxury place, but a clean and very functional home-away-from-home. The owner provides you with everything you may need for your stay. I'd say more, but I really want to find an open time for a reservation. I tried to make a reservation for a follow-up visit for next year and the place was already booked!

Just amazing. Homey and comfortable. They think of everything from shelling supplies to baby yellow crowned night herons in a nest outside our rooms. Short walk to beautiful beach with very few other people. Just perfect.

Lovely cottage style place to stay *right* by Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge with the beach a short walk down the road. And bonus!- you will see lots of nature in your backyard while you're there, including a friendly small alligator and birds, birds, birds! The suites are all super clean, perfectly stocked and comfortable. The owner/operator Darwin was incredibly helpful and accessible for anything we needed while there.
My sister and 9 year old niece stayed for four nights and we absolutely loved it. We'll be back!

Room Tip: Ask for the room with the dock just off the sunroom and enjoy your breakfast and dinner by the pond with nature!

We love this place, and shouldn't review it so we can be sure to find a spot here every March. Here's why we like it so much, and have stayed here each spring for a number of years. It is peaceful, located between Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge and Bowman's Beach, much closer to Captiva than the Sanibel Causeway. It takes 15 minutes to get off island when there is no traffic (and there is rarely no traffic), and another 30-45 minutes to get to a Red Sox spring training game in Fort Myers across the bridge with no traffic (and there is never no traffic). It is a place where you can relax and read without feeling guilty because your resort hotel has a pool and a bar and a restaurant. It is your home, so expect to do some dishwashing and bed making, and neaten up before you leave. It is affordable, with a one-bedroom apartment (there are only four, plus two smaller units) going for about $220 with taxes included per night - that gets you a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, dining/living room, screened porch, a nearby small pond, free bikes and beach items, access to a private beach that is near Bowman's Beach. It is spotless, maintained lovingly by manager Darwin Ford, who is always there and always available. Housekeeping services are available upon request (we're neat, and ask for help every four or five days, but not every day). The bed is very comfortable, the kitchen adequately supplied with eating and cooking ware. The bathrooms (we've stayed in more than one unit over the years) are spotless, too, and well supplied, with new towels available daily. The washer and drier are free to guests, never busy, and equipped with ample soaps and bleach (no softener). No dishwasher, but we don't have one at home, either. The WiFi is free but spotty - units 1 and 2 are nearer the router and get better service, while units 3 and 4 take some patience. But you're on vacation, so do you really need to be looking at your hand? We started by staying for one week, this week stayed for two, and next spring we've reserved a stay for nearly three. Please stay away. Thank you.

Room Tip: Units 1 & 3 have smaller screened patios and larger living rooms. Resident alligators like the lawns near units 2 and 4.
