We love this place, and shouldn't review it so we can be sure to find a spot here every March. Here's why we like it so much, and have stayed here each spring for a number of years. It is peaceful, located between Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge and Bowman's Beach, much closer to Captiva than the Sanibel Causeway. It takes 15 minutes to get off island when there is no traffic (and there is rarely no traffic), and another 30-45 minutes to get to a Red Sox spring training game in Fort Myers across the bridge with no traffic (and there is never no traffic). It is a place where you can relax and read without feeling guilty because your resort hotel has a pool and a bar and a restaurant. It is your home, so expect to do some dishwashing and bed making, and neaten up before you leave. It is affordable, with a one-bedroom apartment (there are only four, plus two smaller units) going for about $220 with taxes included per night - that gets you a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, dining/living room, screened porch, a nearby small pond, free bikes and beach items, access to a private beach that is near Bowman's Beach. It is spotless, maintained lovingly by manager Darwin Ford, who is always there and always available. Housekeeping services are available upon request (we're neat, and ask for help every four or five days, but not every day). The bed is very comfortable, the kitchen adequately supplied with eating and cooking ware. The bathrooms (we've stayed in more than one unit over the years) are spotless, too, and well supplied, with new towels available daily. The washer and drier are free to guests, never busy, and equipped with ample soaps and bleach (no softener). No dishwasher, but we don't have one at home, either. The WiFi is free but spotty - units 1 and 2 are nearer the router and get better service, while units 3 and 4 take some patience. But you're on vacation, so do you really need to be looking at your hand? We started by staying for one week, this week stayed for two, and next spring we've reserved a stay for nearly three. Please stay away. Thank you.

Room Tip: Units 1 & 3 have smaller screened patios and larger living rooms. Resident alligators like the lawns near units 2 and 4.

Great value! Quiet location with nearby beach location. Very well maintained & decorated. Located by a canal where we watched the birds every morning from our lanai or chairs outside. We grilled a couple nights or had a kitchen to have some meals too. We would definitely stay again!

West-End Paradise is away for the big hotels and condos of Sanibel. It is almost part of the wildlife refuge in a quiet residential neighborhood. Darwin was very pleasant and helpful. The private beach access of the neighborhood is easy access and you have a parking permit during your stay. We loved the uncrowded beach and the great sunset opportunities. Hope we can return and stay in an efficiency to allow more options for cooking fresh seafood for ourselves. If you love the nature part of the beach, West-End Paradise is a great place to stay.

Over the last 20 years, we have visited Sanibel Island about 8 times, staying in many different parts of the Island. We prefer the "Small Inns and Cottages" of the Island, and have come to favor West-End Paradise. On an acre of land, about a block from the beach, with parking right at the beach for people of the neighborhood only, this west-facing beach is probably the least populated beach on the entire Island. For a couple of miles each direction, there are only private homes and a few cottages that have access to this big, beautiful beach. No hotels and no condos. And West-End is clean, charming, old-Florida style at it's best. We enjoyed spotting a beautiful gator in one of the two natural ponds on the property. Spacious accomodations, and the manager supplies everything you need for the beach - chairs, towels, umbrellas and toys! Try it, and enjoy!

Spent four lovely nights here in July. Property spotlessly clean, everything you need for a relaxing break. Owner very helpful and his dining recommendations were excellent. Private beach beautiful, usually only two or three families using it at any one time. Free use of cycles much appreciated. If you want a peaceful setting with easy access to the island it is ideal. We can also recommend a dolphin cruise in Tarpon Bay located behind Grandma Dots restaurant.
