“The Name is Accurate”

This place is a haven in heaven. It is off the track enough to avoid the Periwinkle Paralysis and accesses one of the sweetest beaches on the island.... where a busy beach day might have 10 other beach goers in view.

Even the smallest room has all that is needed to get into the Sanibel rapture -- breakfast at the Lighthouse Cafe, a trip though Ding Darling, and the rest of the day.... beaching it. Toss in a sunset followed by dinner at Sweet Melissa's and you are then primed to start all over again!

The entire property is beautiful and five star clean. All you need to beach it is included the rooms and you have access to a fleet of very nice bicycles. I cannot imagine anyone staying here going wanting for anything.

This arrangement may be not for those wheeling around the island in a Range Rover or Hummer. But for us, it is paradise.

My wife and I spent five days on Sanibel over New Years and spent the whole time at the West-End Paradise. We stayed in their smallest room, but it came very well equipped. We had a small frige, a microwave, plates, silverware, glasses, etc... It even came with beach chairs and a cooler. They have larger rooms with multiple bedrooms, but since it was just my wife and I it was plenty of space.

We were warmly greeted when we arrived and Darwin checked in with us throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. They offer bikes for free to ride around the island.

One of the best things about the West-End Paradise is the location. They're less than five minute drive from the Ding Darling wildlife refuge and Tarpon Bay for kayaking. It's also about 1,000 feet from a beautiful beach where we could watch the sun set. There is parking right next to the beach if you prefer not to walk. We'd definitely go back there again.

Room Tip: I recommend the room we stayed in, the efficiency, provided you're just two and don't need a...

My husband and I traveled to Sanibel at the end of October and stayed for 8 days, through the first week of November. We stayed at West End Paradise, which was our first stay there. It will not be our last - we were very happy with our experience at West End. The inn is located in a quiet, residential area of the island. The perk of such location is a very secluded, beautiful beach which is located a short (one block) walk from the inn. Because the inn is not right on the beach, the pricing is very good for Sanibel and you get great value for your money.

However, there is more to West End Paradise than just great value for the price. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The property itself is well kept. There is no pool, however there is are nice two ponds on the property with chairs for sunbathing. Darwin, who is the owner and general manager of the property, is a great host. He is very knowledgeable about the area's attractions and is generally a nice person. When we arrived on the island, on our way we found out that a close relative of mine that lived abroad has passed away. We had to send money for the funeral and other arrangements however it was Saturday and the banks were closed. We did not have a car rented that would have taken us to Sarasota to find a place to do the international transfer there. Darwin came up with a solution and took us to the only Western Union location on the island in his car, free of charge. It was about 30 minutes away by car. He was very nice about it and nothing was too much trouble for him. Later, he also provided my husband with various knick knacks for fishing - also free of charge.

The West End Paradise is a good choice for couples of all ages and for friends getaways. I am not sure the place is good for kids simply because it is a very quiet, laid back place with no attractions geared towards children.

Overall the only two draw backs I found were: 1) the nearest restaurant (Doc Ford's) was quite far (15 minutes by car and 30 by bike) however the unit we had came with a full kitchen and we enjoyed cooking together instead of going to restaurants; and 2) the pillows in our unit were a bit hard, however some people may like them that way.

Our trip to Sanibel was very enjoyable and relaxing - in big part because of our stay at West End Paradise. Thanks Darwin!

Room Tip: We stayed at Unit 1 which is very spacious and quiet.

This is a wonderful small quiet well tended property on Sanabel island's west end. It has easy
access to the beach and two nice pounds on the property. All you need is provided by the property
owner, beach chairs, bikes, coolers etc. Very close to the nature preserve and close in but not too,
for the islands commerical restaurant area. If your looking for a restful few days you will enjoy this
property.

Room Tip: choose a room with a screened in porch overlooking one of the ponds.

We have just enjoyed our first trip back to Florida in over 2 years. This was our first visit to The West End Paradise, and we wished we had discovered it many years ago.

What a place"! Excellent value for money on Sanibel. The housekeeping was immaculate. Darwin was very evident and thoughtful, ensuring that every whim was catered for. Nothing was too much trouble, and he certainly made us feel welcome.

We were surprised and disappointed to read a few negative comments from other reviewers. Perhaps they were comparing this delightful little place with somewhere like The Four Seasons or similar, but we think their expectations are totally unrealistic, and they should be aware that you are looking at very good accommodation - and Sanibel places. The West-End is a definite bargain!

The beach (very close by) is - we are told by locals - the best on the island, and wow! - they are right. With all the facilities on offer, this is definitely an excellent value choice. We highly recommend it, and look forward our next visit - hopefully sooner rather than later.
