Had a very pleasant stay third week of August. Checking in went well. The complimentary 2 bottles of water was a nice touch in the welcome/gift bag. The daily resort fee (plus tx) is a bit much IMHO. You get WiFi that works very reliably well throughout the resort, beach towels, albeit you have to obtain them in the vending room in between the lobby & breakfast buffet. Using your key card is not really that much of a hassle & then you have to put them back after you return from the beach/pool. The vending room was a nice touch. Although you can have coffee from the in-room coffee maker. The beach chairs & umbrella (per resort fee) are well appointed. The cabana guys are very friendly, personable & helpful, especially if you prefer to have a specific spot on the beach. They very much appreciate tips for the service they provide. Drinks are a nice touch given the $-hey you’re on the beach. The dead fish can’t be avoided. The red tide is awful in Sarasota-even talked to a couple who flew in to Sarasota & had to leave their AirBnB (nonrefundable) due to the smell & stench. They drove up for the day. Pleasant to talk with on the beach.
The restaurants all had great service except breakfast buffet since did not eat there. Brian & Chip @ Bongos provided great service. The food was on par given it’s a beach bar. Tasty & flavorful. Joe (Joseph) @Spinners was fantastic during our meal. He provided excellent recommendations given the somewhat overwhelming wine selection. He provided a few sample varietals to taste before ordering the bottle. The meal was exquisitely romantic. The pace of service was not hurried which made for a very enjoyable experience. Level 11-the lady bartender was extremely busy just before sunset but her demeanor & professionalism was prodigious. When she stated my wife would have to wait for the coffee/milk for her drink she recommended a similar drink which she thought was better-she was spot on! My lemon/blueberry martini was the best I’ve ever had-bar none!
Overall, our stay & experience given the location & amenities were not too shabby. We even walked to the sister property-Beachcomber- for 2 for 1 drinks in the Players Sport Bar (included in the welcome/gift bag)-the tropical & frozen drinks were quite refreshing! The only negative (con) was the size of the bathroom—extremely small with NO shelf space for my wife’s accoutrements. The provided hair dryer worked efficiently. The king & queen beds were very comfortable-plenty of pillows. AC worked effectively. The only inconvenience one day was the testing of the fire alarm for an hour from 11am-12pm but we were already on the beach. We look forward to our next trip there.

Room tip: Partial view of ocean & bay is not too shabby-north side is better since you get somewhat view of sunset

My daughter and I decided to spend my 75th birthday at a beach getaway. We were not disappointed in our hotel choice. The staff welcomed us and noted that I had requested a beachfront room on a higher floor and we were on the 9th floor facing the beach. What a vies from our lanai! The room included a queen and full size bed, desk, excellent TV, microwave/refrigerator, coffee pot and extra seating inside and out. Nice bathroom with good, fluffy towels. :) It is a non-smoking in rooms hotel but you can smoke on lanai. Restaurants includes the Palm Room for breakfast, Bongos on the Beach for lunch/dinner/late night food till 11, Level 11 for Sunset views, appetizers and drinks and Spinners for that special dinner. Join their "club" and get discounts on rooms and restaurants. We have never seen staff at every level work so hard and be so nice!

Room tip: Don't be afraid to ask for the kind of room you want. Check the difference in price for types of rooms, sometimes there is none!

We were staying in Florida, mainly Orlando for 2 weeks but decided to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the parks etc... so we headed out to the west coast of Florida and stayed here. The beach - absolutely stunning! Included in the room stay you can have a beach bed with a cover to keep you in the shade if you needed it. We had a spot of lunch on the beach bar which was lovely. In the evening we had booked at Spinners on the top floor as it was for an anniversary treat - the staff had put a card on the table and when I ordered a desert it said happy anniversary which was a nice touch. It was a beautiful view and we had the most perfect spot for the sunset views.
The room its self was a decent size and we had two beds - one king and one more of a double so perfect if you had children with you. The only critical point I have is that the rooms get a lot of corridor noise and noise from adjoining rooms.
Our room did not include breakfast but we went for a walk along the beach in the morning and then headed over to iHop for a filling breakfast before setting off back over to Orlando. I would stay here again and perhaps book a little longer than just one night. We had a bay view room which overlooked the car park and road - would be nicer to upgrade to a sea / beach view.

Room tip: we had a bay view room which overlooked the car park and road - would be nicer to upgrade to a sea / beach view.

Pros: We were greeted by a very friendly check in clerk and received a room upgrade ...to the penthouse .The location is easy walking distance to a lot of restaurants and stores. The beach bar has live music all day and the drinks are reasonably prices for a tourist destination . the rooms are very clean and housekeeping do a great job ! the beach staff are very nice and helpful and the resort fee does include a cabana rental daily,

Cons: the hotel is as many have said dated. you can see the maintenance team are working hard but at a certain age with hotels there is not much more that can be done without a full renovation and most hotels tend to just try to get by. The towel system is odd as you have to use your room key to check them out and also to put them back. The pool itself is small for a resort and the wall of the pool need a good cleaning , there is sun cream and god knows what else caked on to the tiles near the water line.

Recommendations :
the hotel does serve free tea and coffee 24/7 in the lobby and have an essentials vending machine but I would like to see them add a coffee bar and a sundry store, that would be more resort like.

I would consider this a mid range hotel

Problem with sink, refrig did not work, guest fee was very high. Usually the beach chairs are free, had to pay for them as well as beach towels. Stench on the beach due to dead fish on two days of our trip. No reimbursement from the hotel.
