Recently ships that have been recreated from the Nina and Pinta that Columbus and his crew sailed to the New World in 1492 and several additional trips came to Saint Marks, Florida. We enjoyed a lovely trip about 50 miles south of Tallahassee, Florida to see the ship, climb on board a see what it was like and talk to the present day crew. We also visited the Riverside Cafe for a nice lunch.

We arrived at 7:00 on a Wed. night in late Feb., and the restaurant had few customers. The waitress was pleasant and attentive. She explained that the busy season would begin in March. Our meals (shrimp basket and redfish salad) were well-prepared and tasty, and they arrived quickly. The beer was ice cold, and the local IPA we ordered was very good. We would go back again.

We dined on the new dock. It was a great setting. It was all stools for two. Bacon shrimp skewers were great. My hubby loved his shrimp P.O. boy. Beers were ice cold. Service was a little slow but very friendly. It was a busy Saturday afternoon.
The heaps of oyster shells by the dock would indicate that tons have been enjoyed

Great food, great atmosphere and setting. Long wait for food to arrive, overworked servers. Decently priced. Covered, open-air seating only. At the southerly end of The Saint Mark's Historic Railroad Trail - on the riverfront. Be certain that you go when you have plenty of time to enjoy the ambiance while you wait for your meal.

Ordered salmon dip, no salmon just fish flavored cream cheese. Ordered a dozen steamed oysters. They came out on a plate piled together with no shell. Oysters out of the shell that are fresh have a salty flavor, with tiny bits of shell in the oyster from shucking. These oyster came out of a jug that was warmed, seasoned and piled on a plate with no half shell. I don't mind paying a lot of money for good food, but damn i payed a lot of money for terrible food.
