Description: We call it the “collective kitchen.” For the menus of 3800 Ocean are inspired not only by the local abundance of South Florida’s renowned crops that thrive under a hospitable climate, but by the regional flavors that stir the souls of our collaborative team of chefs. Each chef brings a new insight to the table: the comfort food favorites of New England; the fire and spice of Mexico; the Caribbean traditions of Jamaica; and the ageless classics of Long Island. Our own local abundance of fresh produce and seafood allows us to take the collective kitchen dining concept quite literally. Everything is made from scratch. Every taste evokes an emotional connection to a past culinary memory, or perhaps a future craving.

Ate after arriving to begin our stay at the resort. Fast service, and got to sit outside with a view of the water. Enjoyed some local seafood and a drink. Seating inside was quite formal, and appropriate for a special occasion.

First, the good: attentive and friendly wait staff that anticipated your needs. Nice views of the beach via large windows.
Now the negative: This is not the place for that quiet and romantic dinner! While we’ve been in many “open kitchen” style restaurants this one was the loudest we have ever been in; maybe it’s room’s design or lack of carpeting that amplify’s every sound. Add in a couple of children who don’t have a quiet voice and you’ll find the waiter talking very loud at the next table to explain the menu.

Yes, it’s expensive but creative menu that tries hard. My wife’s plate was wonderful and my flounder tempura style didn’t quite deliver. Tempura usually means a nice tan light crust..this was dark and dense. Seemed a tad over fried.

What a beautiful view in the outside patio. Although there is a limited menu for lunch, my 3 picky boys found everything they ordered amazing! They would not stop raving about the food! My 2 year old daughter even really enjoyed the rigatoni pasta I ordered.. the kids grilled cheese was not so good. But the dishes were gourmet and scrumptious! Expensive, but worth the cost!

We stayed at the Marriott, where this restaurant is located. Others' reviews made us a bit leery, so we skipped dinner, but enjoyed cocktails and apps at the bar, and no fewer than three outstanding breakfasts out on the lanai.

Cocktails can be pricey; i.e. $22 for an Old Fashioned. But, I will admit, the bartender was cheerful and knew his craft, the Rye was top-shelf, and they use lots of fresh herbs and fruits for the beverages. We enjoyed Caesar Salads, Shrimp Tacos, and house white wine for dinner. All excellent.

Food and service for breakfast was terrific. The waitresses are so friendly and knowledgeable. Every item we ordered was outstanding. Juice fresh-squeezed, coffee tasty and hot, and the entrees just perfect. Blueberry pancakes, Huevos Rancheros, fruit platters, biscuits and gravy...it's all good here. We avoided the buffet altogether.

Sincerely recommended for breakfast and evening cocktails; you're on your own for lunch and dinner.
