In December 2016, we were in Pompano Beach visiting with my friends’ family before we left on a two week cruise. For dinner the night before we left, we all went to The Rusty Hook Tavern located on the inter-coastal waterway in Pompano Beach. Our friend’s son is a frequent patron and highly recommended the restaurant. He was correct in his assessment. Besides the great setting and location, this casual dining place has some of the best food you could find anywhere. With a name that foretells a seafood selection, you will find fresh fish on the menu daily, 5 to 8 selections depending on the catch. The selections will be among snapper, grouper, wahoo, mahi, swordfish, hog fish and cobia. In addition, you’ll find home made pastas, steaks, chicken and a knock-out burger. My wife had Cheetos Crusted snapper and I had grouper. They were, in a word, superb!...We also had appetizers: they offer different dishes with portabello mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, shrimp, flatbread, calamari, meatballs, and you have to try the pretzel sticks.
I couldn’t help but give this eatery the highest marks for food, ambiance, service and setting. Go and enjoy! You won’t regret it!
