I stayed here (actually not in Lakeside Luxury but in Penthouse Retreat) with another mom and four teenagers for an event at the Convention Center. Even though the Convention Center is right next door, it is a good 20 minute walk to the West Pavilion, which is tough in the August heat. We knew that, and rented a car, and we were happy to find the parking at Vista Cay easy and free. It was easy to shuttle our crowd back and forth to the Convention Center.
The wifi and cable in our condo worked perfectly, even with four teenagers and two Facebook-happy moms using it all at the same time. The kitchen had enough plates and glasses for everyone (and inexplicably, two sets of silverware), and a few pots and pans and tupperware. We were able to make a few basic dinners with no problem. I do wish they had provided salt and pepper, which we forgot to pick up at the store.
There's a Walgreens in the same complex, and a Publix supermarket right next door, and both cater to tourists with small sizes of anything you might need, plus swimsuits, towels and pool toys.
We enjoyed the pool at Vista Cay, and its poolside bar. A Friday night family party at the pool with DJ was not a hit with our kids, but younger ones might enjoy the hula hoop and limbo contests. Likewise it was not relaxing being in the pool with lots of families playing catch and splashing.
